On my way to Hico yesterday....I was passing through Valley Mills on HWY 6, and nearly ran off the road when I saw this!! There was a herd of 20-30 Nyala on the side of a hill just off the road, on a high fenced ranch. They were mostly females...but there were two huge bulls as well. I only got a photo of one of the males. They didn't stick around long. There were also a couple Grant's Gazelle hanging around as well. These pics were taken from the side of the road.... At first, I thought it may have been Hatada Ranch....because I know they are in Valley Mills and are known for their Nyala. However, I didn't see any signs that referred to "Hatada Ranch". This was the main entrance into the property....anyone recognize it, or have any info on the place?

Beautiful animals! Maybe I'll be lucky enough to get one when I head to Africa in May. Thanks for sharing, Wade.

The entrance looks similar to Texas Safari and they are in that area.

Texas safari is south of Clifton past the high school. Would still like to see the critters on side of road.

The entrance looks similar to Texas Safari and they are in that area. It's not the Texas Safari Ranch. I hunted there in 2010 and this ranch is further south. I am really eager to find out more info on this ranch.

Nyala were on my list when I went to Zim but the herds in that part of Africa had been decimated by what they called distemper from the wild dogs coming through. Their herds were coming back but not in numbers that they felt comfortable in hunting.
