That's a great call to have on your lanyard, and you can't go wrong with the QS call either. IMO I think one should build his or her lanyard as such....... Have a call that can Hail call and break ducks down out of the stratosphere like the Echo Boss or RNT MVP. Then have a call, that I call the Boss Gal call like the Echo pure meat or any meat call from any call maker that you can get the best duck out of. This call should have the best sounding quacks and the best sounding cadence with power than any call on the lanyard and this will be the go to call. The next call I would have on the lanyard is a call tuned up to my liking that is the ground work call that can produce squeals, clucks, and pops on the feeder that will make my lay down work easy. Last but not least the finisher call, like a short barrel call of some sort, because sometimes you look up and the birds are on top of you and you just need to give them a little confidence in the spread with this call. Once you have built this lanyard and placed them where you know which one is which, learn them and then when you get in the blind next season, working the birds with each call will just come natural. I've hunted with a few guys from the THF and they have seen how I work the calls on my lanyard to bring ducks down, I promise this method is proven.

That is three calls too many. All you need is one good call. I use an old daisy cutter. The second call on my lanyard is a back up incase my daisy cutter is locked up or something. I only used the back up once this season on a really cold day.

This aint rocket science...it's duck hunting. Get a good versitile call that can get loud and thats all you need.

I would stay with RNT and Echo calls. 20 years from now most of those other brands will be long gone and the RNTs and Echo's bought right now will begin to gain value. There is a reason they are so popular...they have it figured out.

True That! This aint rocket science but there is a science to it.
I can bet anyone that has one call on their lanyard,no matter what call they have gets in a bind where they need a call in the field or woods that can do a little more. This is why I say "BUILD " your lanyard to do so.

If I cant work them with my one duck call then there is something wrong with my set up or location. Not because of the limitations of my duck call.

With that being said the old tone board daisy cutters have more range than any other call I have blown. If I didn't have that call I would prolly want more than one call on my lanyard.

I agree with several of the points that Muddyfoot and Duckiller said.

I run a Zink Nothing but Green (single reed), Zink Open Water Power Hen (single Reed), Zink Naughty By Nature (Canada Goose Call) and a 6-N-1 Whistle.

Any more than that is clutter.

If you haven't tried the Zink Nothing But Green, you might give it a whirl...damn good call.

2 mallard calls, a goose, and a whistle is all one needs.

There is many good mallard calls out there.

Get a loud one, and quiet one, and you are good.

Most Call companies will set them up like you want, you just have to ask.

Guess I should have been a little more specific about what kind of lanyard to build.
I'm from Arkansas but now live in Texas, and when we hit the woods you dont need a Goose call but now on my Goose call lanyard I have the Triple Crown, the Echo Specko, and Tim Grounds Snow Goose call.

I like two lanyards so that the one is not bunched up with all these calls, also I'm not a big fan of the Whistle.

Multitasking is for the office! A shotgun, a duck call, and a few decoys is all you should need. Anything more and you are trying way too hard!
