I have had an old Echo II, but it is time for me to retool on the duck and goose calls. Looking for one mallard call and one goose call. Most of my hunting would be considered open land/water vs timber hunting.

I'm a bit out of touch on what's the best out there these days, and would appreciate any thoughts on the following:

Zink
Foiles Migrators
Rich-N-Tone
Echo

Any suggestions as to specific models also appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Mike

What kind of geese? I guess the type of goose you most often see would determine the best call for you. I'm mostly looking for a snow goose call myself. I have a cheap on. Many have recommended the Sean Mann White Out to me.

Mainly Canada's, but probably need a new snow goose call now that I think about it.

I'm not really the guy to be asking about goose calls...but also check out Redbone calls. There are several very guys on her that should give you some good recommendations.

Are you looking for a short reed, flute, or long reed goose...

I am a little partial to the Buck Gardner series of calls...(for obvious reasons)

WE (BG) have a goose call called the Canada Hammer II that is very easy to blow and is $19.99 at any local sporting goods store (BPS/cabelas)

Honestly it sounds as good as the $150 Acrylic call I have around my neck.

As for Duck Calls, BG has a call called Fowlmouth II that I like very well...(same call I gave Bhunter)

This runs about the same amount...

Please let me know if you have any questions...

A far as the fowl mouth goes every time its cold outside and i try to call, the reed and the end shoot out. it has been my most disapointing call. Mine was probably a defect and i bet the others are good but that really ticked me off. so from now on i will be trying different calls.

The call is a good call once it stays together. To bad i never get to really use it.

I have a BG duck call...can't remember the name off the top of my head but it's a great call. It was only like $20 or $30 when I got it and it came with a really good instuctional CD. IF their goose calls are as good then that might be worth looking into.

I'm pretty partial to the Lynch Mob Stranglehold for the same reason JJ likes his BG's.

The single reed Stranglehold has a competition ring to it whereas the double reed is just pure duck. The double has tremendous range for a double reed call and does not have that flat sound that most doubles have. It's a great call for killing ducks and not judges.

If you like short reed goose calls, give the Lynch Mob Reaper a look.

calls for ducks
duck commander makes some great calls that are cheap (20-30 bucks). The DC-200 is 20 bucks and is great if you dont need to get too loud. If you're wanting to scream at ducks try the rich-n-tone ivory daisy cutter.

look and see if you like the styles. not much more than the ones already being talked about. I also agree on the Canada Hammer II.

That's the other call on my lanyard. That thing is deadly.

For a goose call I like the Mann calls, TXPH is really good on his Redbone call. I like Cuttdown single reeds and zinks single reeds.
