do you guys think that a tin roof on the stand is bothersome to the deer like when it rains, sleets, or acorns may fall on it or do they get use to it.....

Not if the stand has been there for a while. After a while it becomes part of the habitat. I have sat in stands that have a limb that rubs on the roof when the wind blows. It only irratated me and not the deer.

Every blind I have built, had built or bought has had a metal roof on it. Same here. The rain on the trees, vines and such are just as loud. Of course I live in East Texas.

Doesn't bother them one bit. We had an old blind where the metal had partially come detached and would bang in the wind like a drum. The deer could care less. It was noisy in the blind but you sure didn't have to worry about being quiet.

One of our blinds the tin got peeled up in a corner in a huricane from last year, the blind is in weathered shape already so we didnt fix it. When the wind blows that flap of tin will bang on the roof of the blind, it is pretty dang loud! deer pay it absolutely no mind what so ever.

Had a bad experience with a large bird landing on top. Drove me crazy for hours. I would go with wood or Fiberglas.

if it's new, yes, it can be a deterrent,,,, after a few weeks, ( some say day's ), they get used to it, and it has no effect..

Metal has never bothered any deer in my area. I can say that when a vulture lands on a metal blind roof it may cause a heart attack!!! Had that happen once and it sounded like a sabertooh tiger was on the roof:)

My blinds have metal roofs. I used rubberized undercoating on the underside to lessen the noise.

I like to have a branch rub on the metal roof of my blind. That way, if I happen to make a little noise, the deer aren't nearly as alarmed as they are when they hear a noise from a normally quiet blind.

I play a tape recorder of farts, burps, beer bottles opening/being dropped and snoring in my blind. it plays on repeat for the entire off season.
Oh and the metal roof don't bother them either.

Last one I built I assembed roof frame with metal on the ground last and sprayed inside of it with foam insulation out of cans it expands, is basically a glue that will stick to anything and it helps to deaden sound from birds, squirrels, rain, ect on the roof and helps to insulate against heat and cold. Has held up to three seasons, a lease fire, the summer of 2010, and move from et lease to hill country lease. Matter of fact is in Brown County for sell right now, dont wanna haul it back home again as am getting off the lease. Hope it will help.

Every blind I have built, had built or bought has had a metal roof on it. All of ours have Mueller metal CF roofs. Functional but yet highly attractive. Dern Acorns can scare the bejeebers out of you sometimes though.

I had one and it would sometimes pop due to wind or temp change. I would look for blood because I was sure someone just shot it at close range it was so dang loud. Could give someone a heart attack. I should have reinforced it better but it was a stock Monarch blind.
