What are your thoughts?
Is this a particular brand of brass you are using?

Nope. Just whatever I found/bought/picked up. All brass no nickel

Just watch out for "glocked" brass smile

go to youtube and search for the lee bulge buster. I have a video up about it. My name on youtube is the same as here. Not sure if the mods would like me direct posting...

Load it till the necks start cracking. My experience has been the heavier/stouter/faster you load it the quicker it gives up the ghost. I mix it together for just practice loads. Heck, if one jams it gives you the chance to practice your skills at clearing and tapping and bumping.

Yup, I have a bulge buster, and have heard the same thing about "Glocked" brass. Thats one of the reasons why I've been staying away from bulk range brass. cheers

I also found that if you do not open the case up too much the brass lasts longer. It does make it a little harder to get the bullet on during seating.

I use it no prob. Get a case gauge also to make sure your rounds are good.

UPDATE.

Finally got the 165 gr. .40 bullets (ordered on 1/10/13) from Precision Delta. They look great, going to start loading (trying Unique first) in a day or two. Also got a bunch of free .40 S&W nickel brass. Dunno if it makes a lot of difference or not being nickel plated, but they didn't cost me anything. Sorted out 100 of them, in the tumbler now and will be resizing and bulge busting later.

.45 bullets still on backorder. I suppose they'll get here when they get here.

Nickel brass is just easier to clean...it's a little harder so more brittle, but for a taper crimp .40 cal you won't notice any difference.

I have a buttload of regular brass....I see you are in Fort Worth...shoot me a PM if you need some.

Ok? Screwed up at gun show and thought I bought titegroupe, but when I got home, I had, "titewad ". Looked on Hodgdon burn rate chart, listing fastest to slowest, titewad is number 5 and titegroupe is number 10. My question, can this be used in .40 caliber, and if so, what grain load to start with? Thanks, Tony

Go to Hogdon"s web site, there should be some load data, if titewad is suited for 40 cal it should list the data

I've had excellent luck using 180gr TC lead cast from bulletworks.com in my xdm 40 using unique, titegroup and hs-6 for plinking. Unique tends to be a bit dirty for my liking but it shoots well. I also like the 180 gr hornady xtp for hunting.

Yeh, had already checked Hodgdon site and it wasn't listed, just wondering if anyone had played with It or wild catted with any loads with it. Thanks

No I've never used titewad. Try all the different load manuals and try a google search and see if you can find anything

Big ditto on this. If I am loading jacketed bullets I don't really bell the case much, if any, at all. I think that makes the brass last much longer. If I am loading some real hard cast bullets I just maybe barely expand the mouth to keep from shaving the bullets.

Yup, that's what I have been doing. Just barely bell the mouth, and a VERY slight taper crimp (just enough to prevent setback).
