I have a 325 winchester short mag Browning that stomps the heck out of me even with a limbsaver rercoil pad, do you think a brake would reduce felt recoil and not hurt range and accuracy?

Yes, it will reduce recoil very well. It should not effect accuracy. The baffle type brakes that vent the gases 90 degrees sideways, or even angled slightly backwards (not downward), will reduce the most recoil. One of the best brakes I have found is a JEC brake, made by Jason Christian. It was developed and engineered over a long period of time and testing. If you google "JEC brake", you can find his contact info. Plus, Jason is a local to DFW, and a fellow shooter. It is vented on the sides, and has a hole on top to minimize muzzle jump.
I personally, am a big fan of muzzle brakes. A lot of shooters do not like them, especially when sitting next to a shooter with a brake. But they help reduce recoil, and allow you to stay on target better. I can normally watch my impacts when shooting a rifle with a good muzzle brake, even at 100 yards. This allows you for accurate follow-up shots, when needed.
The Vias style brakes (360 degrees ports) I'm not a fan of. They work only ok and when shooting prone or near a bench, they blow up all kinds of debris back at you.

I'm not a fan. I've got two rifles, a .300 Mag and a .375 with brakes, so it's not like I've never used them. However, I do like Magnaporting a great deal, and have at least 4 firearms that have been ported. Magnaporting reduces muzzle jump rather than recoil, which reduces the perception of recoil a great deal; it also avoids the vicious noise of the brakes.

I love muzzle brakes. They make shooting so much more enjoyable.

It will absolutely reduce recoil. It will not affect accuracy for you. But it will for the unfortunate soul that is right next to you. Here is the best on the market in my opion. http://wiebad.com/zen/index.php?main_pag...735854e31958b38

Given the additional noise, I will only ever use a brake on a rifle I'd shoot solely at the bench. I am a fan of them for range/target rifles, and have even used a brake in defense of my 6yr old. I was teaching him to shoot his 22 Henry at the range, and of all the open lanes available these two morons sat directly on either side of us and started blasting away, one with an AK and the other with an AR. We stopped b/c the muzzle blast from their short 16" barreled rifles scared him. I had him stand behind the line, and I loaded my braked 378Wby Euromark. I sat back a bit so that the brake from my rifle was just even with the back end of the bench. One round, and those two [censored] monkeys came up with the bright idea to stop shooting until my son had emptied his rifle before they would fire theirs. So yes, I suppose I am a fan of muzzle brakes.

I like the KDF slimline brakes..but check all your screws after shooting them a bit. Some rifles you'll never have a problem with, others won't stay together.

For hunting I am not a fan of breaks but for target and range they are fine and do reduce recoil a lot, but muzzle blast sure goes up. Shooting the 50BMG from a bench it will blast things off the bench on each side of me.
lf the saying "Liar, Liar your pants on fire" were true Mainstream news might be fun to watch
