I'm treating myself to a new shotgun this year for duck and goose hunting. I was pretty sold on getting a SBE 2. But I talked to my duck hunting neighbor tonight, and he swears by the Xtrema 2. Any thoughts, personal experiences, etc, would be greatly appreciated, as this is a pretty big investment for me. Thanks!

Ok, here is a little analysis for you. Roadgoeson shoots an Extrema 2, and I shoot an SBE II. Now roadgoeson is a better shot than me, yet I beat him in sporting clay not too long ago, so it must have been the gun!

you cant go wrong with either gun, both handle very nice, I just got an SBE II not long ago and love it
I just like the rep of the SBE, they have been tested year after year by many folks and always seem to come out on top.
Attention rickym, this is not a troll post, just a good hearted fun type of post

Don't we have this same argument every year. I have a SBE II and absolutely love it, and those that have the Extrema 2 say its the best. They are both great guns so get whichever one fits you the best. If I were in your shoes, I would find one person with an SBE II and find someone with a Extrema 2, pay for a everyone's round of clays and shoot both guns. Then pick which one you like best.

Good idea. I think I'll invite the neighbor to the range this weekend.

I am sure you can find someone on here with a SBE II that would like a free round of clays.

If I can get TexasEd and gr_elliott to the range again, I'll let you know.
TXed bought the Xtrema2, I mean, he won a Xtreama2, so I will get to test it out.
Honestly, give the reputation of both guns, you won't go wrong with either. You probably need to head to the store and see which one fits the best. If there both the same, then see which one you can get the best deal on.
I have shot Marcstar's SBEII and it was sweet. Can't wait to shoot the Xtrema

For me the SBEII just fit and pointed better. I liked the balance better. The Xtrema seemed felt top heavy to me. I've but my SBEII through the ringer...it's been on the nastiest of hunts...mud, rain, rain that then put a sheet of ice on it, snow, etc...it just kept on shooting without troubles.
SBEII is a snap to break down and clean.
The Xtrema with Kickoff might be a little softer shooting so if recoil is an issue then you might want to go that way. Since it's a gas system you'll need to clean it a little more often than the SBEII.
As everyone said though you can't go wrong with either and as far as I'm concerned they are the top two waterfowling guns you could own. Both badass just different.
Dear Lord please bullwhip me for saying this but I agree, Marcstar is in the lead. Please nobody use this as a quote!!!

At least 3 or 4 or 5 times.
I like spoonie, his humor is dryer than my duck lease.

SUPER BLACK EAGLE II as stated the SBE is more balanced and time tested! Honestly i am a benelli man all the way so i might be bias lol but the benelli is easier to clean and with the comfort tech the recoil shouldnt be an issue IMHO if you are ever around the bryan/ college station area let me know and you can shoot mine. Both are really great guns see which one fits you best and you can get the best deal on but make sure its the one you like. GOODLUCK!!! oh and i have had mine for over 3 years and have literally dropped it in mud on a duck hunt cleared the barrel and kept killin ducks

I am and will always be a benelli guy too I love em, their easy to clean and fit me the best. Just becuase I have had great experiences with the sbe 2 and other benelli's I would hands down stick with the benelli. It seems like the italians know how to make guns(both benelli and beretta).

Benelli has won 3 shotguns of the year one including the suberblack eagle. beretta has not one any, but thats not to say it is by any means bad.

I would say go to Cabela's or Bass pro and have them pull out both guns. Just close your eyes have them hand you each one. Shoulder them(with your eyes closed) pick the one that feels the best and you will have your answer. Otherwise I would say go with the X2 because that's what I have You won't regret either choice.

It appears the SBEII has a bigger following on this forum. It deserves it but keep in mind that the SBE and SBEII have been around a little longer. For me that wasnt really an issue because I got my SBE just over two years ago.

I've used both in Argentina for high volume shooting. You can't go wrong with either, both are absolutely superb.

I tested both and liked the Xtrema 2 better. That's what I shoot.

Sportsman's Wharehouse told me Browning is moving away from the Gold and promoting the Silver only.
What is the difference?

I thought you bought, I mean won, the Xtrema cause you already own an interia gun?

Thanks for all of the input! Sounds like I can't go wrong with either gun. I'm gonna go to the gun shop and see which one feels more comfortable, and if possible, get out to the range with one of each...

I really think that is all you need to do, just hold and swing both guns, that should be enough information to help you decide. Put the SBE and xtrema side by side, and I think you will see the extrema is a bigger gun, so I'm sure the swing and balance is different, and all presonal preferance.

Remember that xtrema is a gas auto so your going to have to keep it clean for it to function like it should. Much more so than the SBE. That is one reason the xtrema has more weight. Has more moving parts!

They are both $1000+ guns. You'll probably clean them about the same.
