Hey Guys My son Zale and I joined our 1st hunting lease in Sept 2011 on a impulse - we were looking for something to do when the offshore fishing turns too rough... That first few months we hunted out of ground blinds near un-established feeders and never even saw a deer. We made big plans for 2012 - We would build a platform stand were there were a ton of hogs on camera and create a dedicated Hog hunting spot. We would also set up dedicated deer hunting spot deep in the woods near a creek with a triple intersecting game trails. We build the hog hunting platform and put a ground blind on it.... [img:left]  [/img] [img:left]  [/img] Set a feeder with solar power garden lights attached [img:left]  [/img] Put two man tripod stand and a feeder in the deep woods for deer hunting [img:left]  [/img] View from tripod stand to feeder and view from feeder to stand...  [img:left]  [/img] We put feed plots in - which was hard work for two city guys [img:left]  [/img] Food plots turned out very well [img:left]  [/img] Zale was ready for action! [img:left]  [/img] [img:left]  [/img]

Thanks for all the kind words - Guys.....
Our lease is East of Huntsville about 15 miles - near Trinity Tx - 2000 acres of beautiful Piney Woods...Timber Co. land
I'll tell you Zale almost jumped out of that 15 foot tripod stand to get down to that deer - he was soooo excited... - I loved it - he did not really understand what all that hard work and preparation was for - till just that moment - when those two buck walked in to our little clearing.

Keep up the hard work and great time with your son. I started in those pines, hunted all over the state and eventually ended up back there to hunt with my Dad.
Having said that, shot placement is key and there is only one level of dead. Us east Texans can't afford turquoise and elk ivories for jewelry. So we use hog tushes and coon peckers.
