Gun: Very confident at 300, but would try out to 400 with very little wind.
Bow: Never shot a deer with one, but target shoot out to 40 yards no problem.

No more than 900 yards with my 300 ultra mag or it might be pushing it a bit.
I can hit a hay bale at 100 yards with my bow, so I would have to say 85 yards or so. It would have to be a real bruiser though.

GUN ... IT REALLY DEPENDS ON WHAT KIND OF REST I HAVE AND HOW STEADY I AM AT THE TIME... ON AN AVERAGE DAY WITH A GOOD REST 200 YDS ALSO KINDA DEPENDS ON WHICH GUN I'M SHOOTING AND HOW I DID WITH IT AT THE RANGE.
BOW.... 25 YDS MAX... I DON'T PRACTICE MUCH

Never hunted with a bow, but had a blast one winter hunting cottontails with a S&W M60 2" 38Spl snubby with most successful shots taken under 20-25 yards on running rabbits.
With a rifle there is a lot of varibles...caliber, weather/wind , scope terrain & back stops. Used to be decent off hand with a 270 offhand out to about 150+ yards, seated in a box blind with a 270/300WMg and a decent rest with low winds prolly good to 3-350---mebbe 400 yards. Killed a pronghorn in Wyoming at about 445 with a 257Rbts & 2x7 Leo using the hood of a Bronco to support my elbow...but missed bigtime on a whole herd of Aoudad in West Texas with a 270 starting at about 250/300 when we spotted each other at the same time to God knows how far. the landowner had told us to knock'em ALL down ...rams, ewes and kids and I don't think I ever parted any hair. I was shooting offhand down a canyon wall ther were climbing up...only I had bigtime handicap ...with my britches down around my knees watering the landscape and airing out sweaty laundry from the hard verticle climb from the canyon floor of about 7-800 ft & couldn't move except to shuffle a little. Great view only tosee them dotz movin down there turn into critters in front of me that could (and did) scratch their butts with their horns on a couple of them as they scrambled to keep their footing on the knife thin spine of rocky trail climbing over each other and haul azz LOL! Lost my advantage of surprise laughing out loud at them until I remembered what I was there for. Ron

Same here for deer. For hog, I'll reach out a little longer on both.

I'm with the guys that say the wind is a bigger unknown variable than yardage. Just because the wind is blowing 5 mph where your standing it may be funneling down that swell your shooting across. I shot a prairie dog once at a measured 1217 yards ( 2nd shot). I had the equipment to make the shot, and practiced long range alot back then. I used to say if I could see it I could shoot it.So
Gun 500 yards Bow- any range your not a real bowhunter if you dont wound a couple a deer per year.

Probably about 300 yards with a gun. maybe a little longer if it was a still shot, had time to figure out bullet drop, windage, sold rest..etc. But I have passed several times at 400 yards expecially with an elevation angle too.
