Predator hunting is a different skill set from hunting a game animal. Fluff the shot on a coyote and no one cares. You, however, owe a game animal a clean kill.

I completely agree that I owe a game animal a clean kill. I'll raise you that I owe any animal a clean kill. I am not a cruel person. I've made this argument many times before with people that take the same stance you are and for the same reason. The opposition doesn't have the skillset, the practice, or the PROPER equipment to make that kind of shot, so I shouldn't either.

The old "this is the way I've always done it" finds its way in. I've heard the same alleged logic in the fire department and my response is, "why don't we have horses hooked up to steamers in the bay?"

I don't want you to assess that I am attacking you. I am responding in kind to, what appeared to be, an accusation that I don't make ethical shots.
