Well I'm starting to slow down on agronomy work in the field. What a summer. I have been booking hunts on repeat customer's already, I'm around 70% booked as of tonight. The pheasant hatch went very well this here. Many towns up here did take some hail during egg lay. My clients ground continues to show very good numbers of pheasant and higher than normal quail numbers. Been doing agronomy business up here for 9 years now, and this is the highest population of quail I have ever seen. I'll include some pics I take during the summer on my travels around turn roads and fields. There are many more pics, put I'll only include a few here. The young pheasant are just now in color change mode...Can start to tell cocks from hens. Any questions on hunts...contact Tim @ tballinger@cableone.net.

I'm looking forward to this season also, Thanks for bookin' your hunt sloughfoot. I'm an agronomist up here, thats all I do is ride a 4 wheeler or polaris rzr now. I get up and check crops all day long till dark. You should see some of the stuff my eyes see and have not got on camera..lol. Lions club question....I know that several of the surrounding towns do a breakfast opening weekend. As far as a hunt?? They did at one time, members of Lions Clubs donate some of the ground they farmed and would take groups out??? The land has changed hands in the past few years, it is now owned by investment groups and dairies...large corp. groups. Liability is such a big issue with hunters up here and these large corp. owners now. Its like anything else...it's who you know!!! You might call the area chambers and see, I really don't know a answer to that. I do know they did in the past, 5-6 years ago. Land has really changed hands in the past 2 years here where I'm at. Pulling up and asking a farmer to hunt the ground beside his house is getting to be a thing of the past. And I do know you had better have permission to hunt the ground your walking up here!! I think I've answered all the questions you asked to the best of my ability. The pic's are pretty cool, I hope ya'll enjoy them. My booked hunters really went crazy over the praire goats...lol.

Hey glad you enjoyed them.. The one hail pic with my pick up tracks in the pic..... That happened in about 13 min. once it was done...it had rained an inch and produced that much hail. So, IT FROZE THE GROUND!!!! Those pick up tracks are on 1" of rainfall. Steam was 5' above the ground as I left that farm... Crazy. The hail off the black top pic.... It was only in a 3 mile stretch of hwy. It came in about 3 min.. TX panhandle weather. Thanks for the reply.. I'll try and post more as I take them....only if they are worth posting and you guys like em'. I think there are worth lookin at???

All you city folks make sure and hunt those counties north of Amarillo, there aren't any pheasants south of there.

No, No, they all left from the north and went south
(just kidding)
I have been out driving in the evenings and have seen quite a few young birds. The roosters are just starting to change colors and have very short tail feathers. I don't believe it will be as good as last year, but that was the best year I have seen since the '70s. We should still have a very good hunt. Come on December.
