I know that on one part of the lake the owners drain it. They buy the former lakefront properties, turn the water back on and jack the prices up. It happens every few years.

We could use a hurricane to fill all the lakes up. Sorry Coast folks but that is what we really need across Texas.

Sad to see, but the problem is not going away, rain or no rain. Too many people draining the resource. Until developers are FORCED to install low flow shower heads, toilets, rainwater harvesting systems, greywater recovery for lawns, buffalo grass etc. It's only going to get worse. The population of Texas is expected to double by 2040, where is the extra water going to come from?

At least they reworked the contract for the South Texas rice farmers and restrictions were put in place until the lake level comes back up.
I feel more like I do now then I did when I got here.

That's good news. Unless you're a rice farmer, I guess. I just read a couple of days ago, San Antonio, Austin, Houston, DFW are the 4 fastest growing areas of the country, in that order. People are flocking to Texas in droves. Our beloved state will never be the same, unfortunately.

Buffalo grass isn't a viable option, I've installed enough over the years only to have it taken over by bermuda. Native and well adaptive plants could be an answer, but most homeowners want green grass and shrubs, no matter how much the water cost. I think if we started landscaping like they do out west- Vegas, Pheonix, would cut the water use way down..... but would hate to see what would happen to foundations then Sad to see, but the problem is not going away, rain or no rain. I'd ask him if he's pregnant. He missed a s__tload of periods. I'll take "things that look like a uterus" for $200 Alex.

I was always a fan of a good old Arizona rock garden. throw in some teddy bear cactus and you've got greenery and nice flowers in the spring. Cook them up and you've got a meal too. Also works wonders under a teenage daughter's window when a boy tries to jump out of it...
Korea is nothing like Germany, and no amount of Army Modernization propaganda will convince me otherwise. I miss my wife and kids something fierce

Allot of people around here are replacing their grass with turf. There's some really nice turf out there that you could swear was grass, plus it doesn't take long to get your money back in decreased water bills.
