Just about everyone is charging money on their private land to kill hogs. Best thing to do is make a friend with some land or find an outfitter on here that will take you for a hunt to get you started.

Go to the Migratory Section and tell them you just watched an entire season of Duck Dynasty and want to know where all the public waters are.......That would be fun. I sent you a PM check your box. I see you are new it will be flashing on top when you log in. Welcome.

There's public land up around Ladonia and Honey Grove, Texas. That's about 1 1/2 hours away from Dallas. You can even hunt coyotes up there. Check out Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for locations, dates, etc.

There's a lot of great public land within a few hours of Dallas. Check out TPWD, they have all the maps and harvest data. The best advice for public land, the deeper in you can get, the better. A lot of people hunt close to the road.

From a blind, stalk them on foot or ATV, or if you really have money or the right connections from a helicopter

No closed season with a license. Pour out about 200 pounds of corn about mid-afternoon, get in a good spot within 60 yards by dusk with any rifle .223 or up, or a 12g with slugs, and either a scope-mounted light, feeder mounted light, or a friend with a spot-light. You'll know when they show up, they aren't bashful.
This was all half-way tongue-in-cheek, but pigs aren't hard to hunt. Pretty much any means will take one eventually. They're just awful random. Good luck and welcome aboard!

ive never hunted hogs before. whats the best or most popular way to do it? Suggest you hook up with someone who knows what they're doing to teach you the ropes. You can hunt them on stand, spot and stalk, in daylight or at night with special gear. As many have noted, you have to pay to hunt hogs on private land unless you wrangle an invite. But let me give you some perspective on that. Some hunts here can be found as cheap as $50-$100. Contrast that with good hog-hunting areas in Calif., where guides are now charging $600-$1,000. Pay-to-play hog hunting in Texas starts to look REAL good in comparison.

Stalking would be the most enjoyable imo. On our lease we tend to see them roaming rather than certain times in the day so stalking is the best for me.

IMO Public Land hunting is tougher then it needs to be. I'd spend the money and book a hunt.

I would suggest a spear. You MUST do it barefoot wearing a loin cloth.Always hunt near a tree, big enough to climb!

be careful, some public land doesn't permit baiting for hogs. Double check TPWD and make sure it's ok to bait prior to heading out. Other than that, it's open season on the pigs. If you can, pour out some sour corn and light em up
