If, God forbid, the gun control proposal set forth by our socialist leaders passes and becomes law, do you think your local law enforcement agencies will back the gov't and begin confiscating weapons at gun ranges, check points, or any other place they encounter an otherwise law abiding citizen in possession of one?
I would hope that the police departments across the country will recognize this as a law they cannot, and should not in good conscience, enforce.
It is hard for me to believe that they would be willing to stop at grandfathering existing guns, magazines, etc. I feel it would come down to a total ban on these, and you would not be able to be in possession of one at all, even if you owned it "pre-ban".
With this POTUS, I feel it would simply start as a ban, but wouldn't take long before they began a witch hunt(for lack of a better word) for lawful and registered owners of certain weapons in order to confiscate those weapons...fully auto, tube launchers, large caliber weapons, etc.
How will our law enforcement organizations react to such a ruling? I know there are lots of LEO's on this forum, and I hope they can give us some insight on what they are being told by their departments when it comes to gun rights and possession. Would they be willing to enforce laws that deprive us of our rights?
If they thought Waco and Ruby Ridge was bad...wait until they have a whole population up in arms! You couldn't pay me enough to be a cop in that situation.

Just look at what happened to New Orleans citizens under "martial law" after katrina. Cops and military both illegally confiscated guns. You can rest assured that there will a lot of both willing to do it again.

Also note in Jefferson Parish the Sheriff deputized additional citizens to assist in force protection.

As Target1911 already stated i believe the majority of police will fall in line and do as order, it happened before they would do again plain and simple.
On the other hand if police stood up and blew the whistle on an unconstitutional gun ban law. Then refused to enforce the law or participate in a confiscation it would then give king obama all he needs to declare martial law, operation dictator is complete.
Either way, its a win/win for him.

Yep, there will be plenty jobs available,,, jobs vacated by the "from my cold dead hands crowd".
It's all part of their 'get Americans back to work' plan.

And a lose lose for Americans.
Civilians, LEOs and military will die. I'm not saying I will fire a shot, but it would happen. I can only speculate as to how volatile things will become when the liberal media reports the shootings and lies about what happened.
Will the "enforcement" of unconstitutional law last days, weeks, or just hours before the government decides to hit the brakes, back up and cancel the drill?

Like many decisions in government, money will play a significant factor. How many local LEOs, their equipment, and training is currently funded by free money from the Federal government? If those same PDs are given a choice of confiscation vs not receiving "free money", how many self-absorbed local government officials will pressure the PDs to confiscate citizens weapons?
I suggest you start now by asking your local PD thru FOIA requests how much of their budget is funded by Federal funds.

I can't speak on Police Departments, but I can on Fire Departments.
Grant money is for buying stuff; bunker gear, SCBAs, hose, nozzels, ect. I've even designed a fire engine, brush truck, and tender that were 80% paid for by the Texas Forrestry Service. We used the apparatus as we pleased, and as front line apparatus, we were obligated to come when they called. They don't call often.
Getting grant money to pay staffing is very difficult, and usually goes to rehire laid off firefighters, not hire new ones.
Having siad that, if the same situation is true for Police Departments the federal government would come and take away "stuff" if the depatment doesn't comply. The chief may say "it'll be by the curb, because we're not enforcing laws that are unconstitutional."

Roughly 800,000 "sworn in" officers in the US... I believe it would be too big of an undertaking for the "police". Heck our law enforcement agencies are already overwhelmed with the day to day struggles of fighting crime. And to think they would have the resources to enforce a confiscation on millions and millions of gun owners doesn't seem possible. And as others have said it would be a lose/lose and something I hope no US citizen has to endure.

I don't think the majority, but it will be a large number.

It will always get ugly before it gets better. And that can come in a whole lot of different forms from more political attacks on Washington to simple hick town showdowns. But when and IF it does come, it will be memorable. All I know is to be ready and be alert to anything out of the ordinary. Believe nothing that you cannot verify with genuine facts. The propaganda is already spinning out of control. I'm sure LEO will split forces somehow, but the population has to stand together. I'm afraid it will be the Blue and the Gray all over again.
I hear somewhere that the First Amendment is also being challenged? Has any one else heard this?? Does this mean I can no longer refer to him as a half-bred undocumented socialist muslim??

That's what I would expect, and those LEOs that quit would probably be the first to get a knock at the door. There are lots of countries with blue hats that would love to enforce thier standards on the U.S. How is your chineese?

Sorry, but what proposed legislation calls for confiscation? Tin foil legislation... Do remember that the last mag law and AWB went off without a shot fired.

Jasb you know I trust The government bout as much as I do a car salesman.
So when I agree with you. Well it's rare.
Come on guys lets stick to the facts. There is no introduced legislation calling for confiscation. Let's stick to the facts. Arguing fake scenarios does nothing but make us look dumb.

Ah yes it does call for confiscation. AWB list weapons, can not be transfered and upon your death are surrendered to the government. And that list is ammendable, without congressional approval.
So lets say the AWB passes, not likely, but to say it does. Then any gun they want to add to the list, they just add it. From your single shot 22 to whatever. And when you dies guess what, they are confiscated.
The liberals for once are not working on an immediate plan, they plan to ban all guns in America. One dead gun owner at a time.

Agreed. But that still does not call for "Leo to go to the gun range and confiscate weapons."

I think a lot of LEOs will walk for sure. But just like at every job you have those guys that are just die hard retards and will follow any order for anything. Those are the one you are gonna see still patrolling and doing confiscations. Of course I ride a big red truck for a living and most cops are jealous of that so I'm sure ill be up high on their list !
