This is the last thing I need before I go on my spring turkey hunt (my first). Looking for recommendations. I was told that these are good.

They are good. The best are Dave Smith decoys. Check them out. They helped my Turkey hunting out tremendously.

You do not need to pay 150 dollars for a turkey decoy....

Very true, I had a buddy that used to take an empty gallon milk jug and paint it brown. He would staple/tape some feathers to the back and he was good to go.

You don't need a Turkey decoy or a Turkey call to kill a Turkey either but it sure helps. If you never used a Dave Smith decoy then I wouldn't expect y'all to understand. Anyways to answer the op's question I have the strutter, the feeding hen, and the upright hen. And yes it makes a massive difference.

Any of the 30 dollar decoys from academy will trick the birds... their brain is the size of a peanut.

Bought some inflatable ones at Walmart a couple years ago that work as well as any others I have used and sure are easy to carry around. Forgot the maker of them though.

We don't need A/C either, but it sure is nice!!!

Dave Smith has the most realistic decoy, but unless they changed the design I absolutely hate hard sided/non-collapsible decoys. I use Zink's Avaian-X.

No need even spending that much. Just get a feather-flex. It doesn't take a fancy decoy to kill a bird. I usually don't even use them, but when I do, I put out two feather flex hens. Just remember, whatever the decoy looks like, it won't always work.

It seems most of the time I really don't have the time to put out decoys. But when I do I like to use the Feather Flex. They fold up quick, they are not big and bulky and are extremely light.

Best decoy ever

The way gobblers like to kick a gobbler when he is down that decoy almost seems unfair. Might have to get one for hunting with the kids

The best setup is the Killer B-Mobile. Its around $60 and very durable and easy to pack. I prefer to use real feathers instead of the fake fan, but the fake fan works well too.

Seems like the best set up is to put a hen decoy down in the submissive position about 7-10 feet away from the Killer B Decoy. All you have to do is get the tom within sight of it and the fight is on. The killer b is durable. My son gets a kick out of watching 3-4 toms take turns spuring and pecking it. It holds up real well.

I've had better luck with jakes, but it may have been the area I was hunting. The full blown strutting tom is an "aggressive" set up and may work better when the breeding activity is in its peak.

I usually use a non-strutting jake and two hens with one in a submissive position. Drew mature Toms and younger birds in to range in areas without the aid of a corn feeder nearby.

Mine are older and bulkier collapsible decoys that were not that expensive.

Good advice has already been posted. It's a confidence thing, but you really don't need to spend alot of money. Any of the $20 decoys will work. I use the flambeau master series, just cuz I like the looks of them. I use the jake with the feeding hen. Most of the time the longbeards will go directly to the jake.

What ever you buy, make sure they are collapsable as it makes for a much easier hike in as well as running and gunnin.

Same here, Flambeau Master Series jake and hen. I've killed plenty with more and less, but I dig these right now. Easy to carry, decent paint jobs on the heads, and I won't cry if they get messed up for whatever reason.

I use a strutting decoy and a hen. I cut the beard off completely or at least to an inch or two long and either trim the tail to match a jake fan or use a real jake fan. I bought the peep n tom decoy and only use one of the heads that come with the decoy and place the hen on the ground about 3 or 4 foot in front of the decoy. This works extremly good. I bought my strutting decoy on the wing supply website and it was only $25 new in the box. I think they still have them on there for that price.

Decoys are second to feeders.. Real turkey hunters don't use them, carry on....

One thing to think about, is How much is a tank of Gas for your Truck? $75? How much will you spend in Gas going hunting?

What is $100-$125 for ONE decoy in the grand scheme of things?

Also, How many of these "Turkey" decoys are you going to buy in the next 5-10 years?

Why not just buy a damn good one, that looks good?
