OK, I know the scat is dog, likely a coyote, but the thing that has me stumped is the ballon right next to it with what appears to be some sort of micro-chip embedded in it. The ballon was pooped and it appears to have been pooped too...

I will admit to moving the balloon. It was laying much closer to the dog poo, almost like it was expelled at the same time. It wasn't in the poo though...

Any ideas or anyone seen this before?

Small weather balloon? I've found some weird stuff in Coyote poop. Fabric, string etc. They smell human scent and then consume the object.

Might represent just a small section of it as well. I will look for it again next time I am out there and see if I can bring the chip home to be analyzed to find out more about it. In the meantime, keep guessing away, unless our contact at the NOAA verifies it...

I'm not sure that's a microchip. It has a infared lightbulb on it, which has absolutely no use inside a dog since the light is being blocked. It might work it a ballon, but I'm not sure. It's the same kind of light on the end of your remote, get your camera and turn it on, then point it at the bulb on the end of your remote, press a button and you will see the light on your camera. I couldn't get it to work with an iPhone, but a digital camera works great. The dog probly just ate some garbage and that's what happened to come out undigested.

The one thing I did think of was a balloon with some sort of led colored we light inside, something you would find at an amusement park or fair...

Looks like a balloon with a LED light. Seen a few floating by. Rancher one time told us cows would eat balloons people release and clog their digestive track.
Had a dog that ate a baloon once... and it came out. The Yote might have winced as that board was coming out
