Everywhere that has something in stock is now limiting the maximum amount that you can buy. Even a supplier I have been buying as a dealer from for years is limiting how many bullets, powder, and other supplies you can buy! How can you fill orders with limiting how much you can purchase. Man, makes me so mad! Ok, I'll get off my !

I am not making light of current situation, but wait until it is food and fuel being rationed. When old English 40's are being rationed we got a huge issue.

Gas was rationed once before. Lines suck. At least the limits give everyone a chance to get some ammo. Not saying it is great, but times like this it is not the worst thing in the world. People are buying up all the ammo not just for themselves, but to resale for double thier cost. I call bs.

Saw a car the other day with Magpul Magazines and AMMO for sale on a car in shoe polish. Had phone number there as well. The car was parked in the parking lot of one of the Big Box stores and the driver was in there getting what ammo they could, and complaining about the quotas. Guess it was cutting into his supply for business.

I get what you are saying but the idiots buying lifetime supplies of stuff or buying stuff to resale is screwing up the market. I'm glad some companies are trying to curtail it a bit.

That's my point. I'm not doing this for personal supply. I'm doing it for a living. Dealers who make their living by purchasing supplies year in and year out should not have the same small restrictions as a person gauging the market. And the restrisctions they are imposing are way too small and barely worth ordering it.
Thanks BIL! I'm ok right now. I just need to make the ammo from the supplies I have right now.

Any of your dealers get 8lbers of Varget or H4350? I only need 2 of each.....

There are several trying to make a living at this. My friend has his own ammo business. If you buy it all up then he cant make a living either. The limits i feel will help everbody and will get things back to normal faster than a free for all. On a seperate note Guy at walmart yesterday all pissy becuase he wanted all the 9mm and 22 in the case. They said no 1 box. He started berating the guy working the counter. He had enough and said "sir, if we didnt limit the ammo the first guy this morning would have bought all of it and you would be looking at empty shelves, so im gonna ask you once. Do you want your 1 box?"

I hear yah LOUD & CLEAR Chad but at the same time SOME....yes some of the "dealers" are doing the same thing. I remember when I was in College station during the 2008 scare; we went to Wal-Mart at 2 AM and caught the owner of the local shooting range pushing a shopping cart FULL of ammo out the door. He was paying the kids who worked at Wal-Mart to call him when the shipments came in at midnight.....he would buy it all up and sell it at a 300% mark up. ALSO- He wouldnt sell you any ammo unless you bought and hour of range time! So he would sell you ammo at scalper prices and then charge you $15 even if you didnt shoot it.

Chad I know you probably won't be willing to give up your source but I was wondering if you might have an idea of when things might start to come back in stock? Are the manufacturers pumping out everything they can already? Or is it possible that in a month or so we will start to see things come back in stock again?
I waited till the new year because I was saving up enough money to make a bulk order on stuff and now I can't buy ANYTHING. I have literally been checking several websites 2-3 times a day and I can't get anything I need. I have a brand new 6.8 that I can't even shoot because I can't find ammo and I don't have the components to load it!

They limit amounts so that more people have a chance to get some....of whatever it is being sold. Seen it, been part of it in the past, on both sides.
I was just at Academy yesterday on Galveston Island. I was so happy to see they had .357 and 38spl, it made me have to go pee. by the time I got back, half of the 357 was GONE and nearly all the 38 was too. I picked up the rest of the 357 and 3 boxes of 38, and walked up front. I saw a guy with a buggy full of ammo, he was telling his buddy about how much money he was gonna make by selling all that online.
So, on that note, deal with the limits, while you may not be a @$$hole.....the other guys are, and they are making life for all of us a misery.
BTW....I hope you all get the ammo you need soon, without paying 300% markups over MSRP.

Man, makes me so mad! Ok, I'll get off my ! Chad it is what it is and it sure get's irritating. I've been in business for 20 years and have done everything by the book, sales tax. personel tax, corporate tax and dividends but when I see people try and skirt them it really gets to me. I'm almost to the point that when I see bulk sales or repeated sales of ammo and or firearms on here I'm tempted to just link them to BATF or the IRS. Now this will probably pizz off a bunch of people of but I don't really give a damn, if you want to make money then start a legitimate business and more power to you. If you want to cheat the system and rules that I have to work by then you are now in my crosshairs. Don't like it, don't do it.

I noticed that at Academy even the none mil. calibers that were stocked are no longer on shelves...classic case of panic or gouge shopping. If I find someone local selling off craiglist or tailgate selling and I see signs of bought retail then marking up I am going to call BS on them! I have enough loaded stuff and factory 223/5.56 that I could sell and make good money but I am not that way or going to take advantage of others! On that note if local shooter was needing a box to site in or take a beginner out I would let them have a box! Where are folks going to buy ammo to take CHL or practice so they are knowledgable about their handgun?

there was one at one of the large stores recently with his windows painted with shoe polish p-mags and ammo and a phone number. The guy tried to buy more that morning only to be turned away, being told the supply was for customers that use it not resalers.

Seems there is a Mexican stand-off and no way to make everyone happy. I have reloaded for 40+ years and have never been out of any thing. Primers, powder, bullets, etc. I can't afford to because of where I live, 25 miles from the closest Walmart. Until the last 4-5 years when the Cabela's and Gander Mnt opened in Sherman, Allen, and Ft Worth I had to order from out of state or I could only buy supplies in Dallas or Ft Worth, way too far to drive for 100 primers. At one time Barrett Drug in Denison and the Woolworth 5&10 carried reloading supplies, but accidents and insurance caused them to stop. I have receipts from orders back in 1975 where I bought supplies via mail order. The hazmat fees make me buy in bulk or I can't afford it.
Here is my question. If I sell a primer or 1000 primers, how much should I sell them for since I will have to either pay to have them shipped or drive 75 miles to get them. I have trouble believing any real reloader has less than 1000 primers in reserve and at least one extra pound of favorite powder in reserve. I keep my money tied up in supplies, not in beer & chips. That is one of the reasons I only have .308 caliber guns, I can use various bullets, and while they may not be ideal, I can shoot those bullets in my 30-30, 308. 30-06, or 300 win mag. And the large rifle primers work in all and two powders suffice.

I have not tried to buy any in a while, like you I don't need any. I know there are some people that would pay a lot for CCI#41 primers.

Guys, for crap sake! Some of yall reload for a living, or make extra money, or as some call themselves "real" reloaders. What about a guy that is new to reloading, and just wants to work up a load for his favorite coyote gun, which happens to be .223. Anyone know where I can score some small rifle primers (no real preference unless one of you wisemen can direct) and some quality 55 grain bullets(which research tells me should likely be the best shooters) I'm in NE Texas, but I am in the metromess at least once every two weeks whether I like it or not. Anyone? Bueller?

My sympathies.
If you are choosing RIGHT NOW to start loading (no matter the reason) you are WAAY late to the game. And choosing .223 for components complicates matters further as you have now become part of the herd that's looking for it. It's unfortunate that events have evolved so that it's much more difficult and expensive at this point for components. It's not like we haven't seen this before. 2009 was bad, this time is worse.
If you buy now and pay current inflated price you have become part of the problem. My suggestion is to wait it out. If you have your press, scale, dies, loading manual, etc. and just need components then pick them up as you find them. It 'aint gonna be easy (or inexpensive) but it can be done. Most of us that have been loading for a while have done the same thing in the past. Then we stocked up over time.
Good luck.

Good luck. This ^^after 2008 I learned my lesson. I've been doing this going on 30 years. You learn to stock up for the dry times. And it's gone bone dry.
