I mounted one of my customer's Mexico deer today. Thought I'd share a photo. This deer was about 7 1/2 years old. Gigantic head on this buck. He's a cull buck they call the "flame". Ty

Thats nice work. You said you just mounted it today? Looks like you bondo your ears. Do you leave the nose alone or put texture back on it? Please take what Im about to say as a sudgestion, Im sure you know what your doing, and as stated, you just mounted it today and the next two days will be the set up period where you will adjust things before they dry. The eyes look ticked off from the front. Some guys like it. I would press the mud inward a little in front of the eyes before it firms up. I used to leave that look on my customers heads until someone said something about all the deer in my shop looking mad, and not natural. It ticked me off, but they where right. Hope i didnt tick you off. Your work looks awsome. Skinner "ex taxidermist"(which means you can tell me to shut up)

No prob. You probably can't tell but the form has a head down agressive posture. So I guess if you say he looks ticked off, I did a good job.
Even if it wasn't, those eyes look great from the front...

Well Im glad i didnt offend you. Alot of guys are so proud of there work they cant take when someone tries to give them a pointer. They forget that Taxidermy is an art form, and the only way to become the best you can in art is to listen to other artists when they critique your work, and not get offended. I did a monster buck for a guy on one of those forms like your talking about with the agresive head down ready to dive into a fight and kill something look. They really look great. In a couple of weeks when you finish it i would like to see a couple of pictures from the side hanging on that fence. Again, great work. Skinner
