I hope enough pull out that no one will go to the show and the ESOS promoters have to pay for the venue for their stance. Those companies that do still attend should be boycotted.

This is great. Ruger providing the letter service recently and now this ensures the .22-250 I am shopping for will now be a Ruger, period.

Response from Mathews:
Like many outdoor enthusiasts, Mathews was surprised and concerned to learn that The Eastern Sports & Outdoor Show in Harrisburg, PA was banning many types of guns and accessories from being displayed and sold at the upcoming show in February. We are a proud supporter of our Second Amendment rights—rights that protect all other freedoms. We stand firmly with Americans that have made their voices heard and who choose freedom. Corporately, Mathews doesn’t attend the show and of course will not be in attendance in 2013.

Show postponed or canceled...update! http://www.easternsportshow.com/Reed Exhibitions has decided to postpone, for now, the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show given the controversy surrounding its decision to limit the sale or display of modern sporting rifles (also called ARs) at the event. The show was scheduled to take place February 2-10 in Harrisburg, PA.
“Our original decision not to include certain products in the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show this year was made in order to preserve the event’s historical focus on the hunting and fishing traditions enjoyed by American families,” said Chet Burchett, Reed Exhibitions President for the Americas. “In the current climate, we felt that the presence of MSRs would distract from the theme of hunting and fishing, disrupting the broader experience of our guests. This was intended simply as a product decision, of the type event organizers need to make every day.
“It has become very clear to us after speaking with our customers that the event could not be held because the atmosphere of this year’s show would not be conducive to an event that is designed to provide family enjoyment. It is unfortunate that in the current emotionally charged atmosphere this celebratory event has become overshadowed by a decision that directly affected a small percentage of more than 1,000 exhibits showcasing products and services for those interested in hunting and fishing.
“ESS has long been proud to participate in the preservation and promotion of hunting and fishing traditions, and we hope that as the national debate clarifies, we will have an opportunity to consider rescheduling the event when the time is right to focus on the themes it celebrates.”

Benelli needs to be added to the list.
The NRA should have been the leader on this! Another example of their lack of vision. I read about them pulling out before I heard about anyone else. What did I miss? Perhaps I just don't get what you are saying.

Perhaps I just don't get what you are saying. I can't remember where, but I read somewhere that the NRA was still participating until they saw the momentum from the manufacturers like Ruger. This is a perfect oppurtunity for the NRA to capitilize on a debate with the consequences of incrementation. It just seems like they are always a day late.

Emotionaly charged atmosphere? Their fault Decision affected a small percentage of more than 1000 exhibits! Wrong! The decision effects every gun owner.

Yep, that's what I thought but I don't have very much faith in any form of media. I'm glad it got canceled though. Way to stick it to them!

Ruger is a top notch company! Customer service has been excellent and this is just another fine example of why one should support Ruger. Everyone should have at least one Ruger, sorry I sold mine but I now have the opportunity to buy another one and say thank you.
