16.5 in the city with a 4x2? then i am happy. i hear others getting more but i am not trying to scratch every mile out and fret over it. i wanted this truck a long time and knew it was going to hurt on the gas side a bit. however my 03 nissan frontier barely did better.

3.5 Eco hint:

If you're just driving around on a nice day, reach up and turn the traction control off. You may get a bit better mileage. The default is ON so each time you turn the key off you will have to turn the traction control OFF when you get back in...

I won't take credit - got the idea off the Ford Forum! Seems to work for me. My biggest problem is keeping my foot out of the turbos.

i bought a 2013 Eco Boost F=150 limited a couple months back thinking i would get 20 + MPG and boy was i wrong. i drive 100 + miles a day to and from work (all highway) and my avg MPG is 16.5 and that is babying the heck out of it. dont get me wrong it will pull a house down and has plenty of get up BUT was very disappointed in the MPG. like mentioned above it will tow most anything but when i towed my jeep to the deer lease last month i was getting an avg MPG of 8. The other thing i dislike about the Limited F-150 is that i cannot understand why Ford would put 22'' wheels and low profile tires on a 4x4. i have looked everywhere for AT or Mud tires and the simply just dont make them for a 22'' wheel.

Are you driving in traffic to and from work? Very strange that you are getting such low MPG. Every long highway trip i take i get over 18 unless i am going into a pretty good headwind.

I agree with you on the tires and rims. This is getting out of control and even if you could find some tires they are going to be priced through the roof. What ever happened to the good old 16" rims.

you get about what i do. i tried the suggestion yesterday that HnF made and was getting upwards of 18. i think i was subconsciously babying it though. i will keep trying it to see how it goes.

ditch the 22s and get some 18s or 20s. gonna be cheaper tires anyways.

I hate the big wheels on a 4x4 especially. I would have made the dealer trade them out. I resisted the 17s when I bought my 2001. I checked tire prices prior to buying and there was a big diff.. Not much now. Price and the fact that I wanted to take the crappy OEM tires off and put them on my other truck. I think there is a lot of stretching of MPG numbers going on with these new Fords. Probably the DOdges too. My Toyota gets right the advertised MPG.

I took the suggestion that Hunt N Fish said about taking the traction control off and i was getting around 22-23 mpg on the highway yesterday driving about 70mph.

I have a 2012 F150 with the V8 and so far its been awesome. I was considering the Ecoboost when I bought it but I am not a big fan of turbo's on gasoline engines. On all my gasoline vehicles they were either naturally aspirated or supercharged. Is there anything wrong with a turbo? No, its a matter of preference. They state that the ecoboost will get you more mileage per tank and it will... because the tank is 10 gallons larger that the V8. I drive mine like a normal person should and I am getting 19mpg in town and 22-23 on the highway. Like I said drive them both and its app about preference. Also, depending on how long you intend to keep it, repairs on twin turbo's is very expensive. Personally If you wanted the extra power get the V8 and have a roush supercharger. With a roush charger and a PCM tune you'll add about 250hp on the low end and still get decent gas mileage. If the dealer installs it ,it will be covered by your warranty, unless things have changed. The last 2 mustangs I had, I had the dealer install the superchargers for that reason alone.

I think you may be a bit confused on the "gas tanks" and miles per gallon!

Mine is a 2011 EB FX4 and has a 26gal tank. A 36gal was an option on ALL the F150's and is so in 2012 and 2013. (Check Ford.com!) I bought mine as a one owner so I couldn't pick or choose. I may upgrade if I think I need it.

Besides that we're measuring MPG (miles per gallon) not MPT (miles per tank) You can have a 20 gal or a 50 gal tank and still get 20 miles per gallon. Of course one might go further because they have a 50 gallon tank but the miles per gallon will be the same...

20 gal @ 20mpg = 400 miles
50 gal @ 20mpg = 1000 miles

As far as turbo vs supercharger, the only real difference is in how they are powered. Turbo runs off off exhaust gas and sup charger is belt driven. Turbo is generally accepted to be more efficient but takes a bit longer to spool up.

I stand corrected. All I can say to that is that when I bought my F150 V8 I was told nor could I find a larger tank than a 25 gallon, that being said, I didn't look real hard either. When I went to buy mine they told me that all V8's had a 25 gallon tank. As far as the supercharger and turbo thing. personally I prefer the supercharger over the turbo.(except with a diesel) I have had 4 vehicles that were not naturally aspirated 3 of which where supercharged and one twin turbo and the supercharged ones were far more economical and more fun to drive than the twin turbo. As a guy that does 99% of all the mechanic work on his cars and truck, I am far more comfortable working on a supercharged motor than a turbo charged one, because I have built several of them over the years.. Again that my preference because they have less components(roots blower),therefore easier to work on. Back to the original OP its a matter of personal preference. Do your homework and choose what will work best for you.

I think he may also be confused on a turbo and a supercharger... if s supercharger is ok then why isnt a turbo? They do the same thing except the turbo only makes power and burns more fule when you are demanding the power, a super charger crams it down its throat 24/7. Super also runs off a drive pully and is parasitic, actualy uses some of the power the engin makes to run while a turbo runs of the exaust. I by far dont know it all about everything but saying a supercharger is ok but turbos are a no go is just a little... well dumb.

As stated a few times, I have a preference to superchargers over turbos. And again anyone that wants to add more HP and torque to their vehicle should do the research and choose whichever application best suits their needs. I understand 100% how each of them work and in no way did I ever say that turbo's were inferior.

best that I've gotten was 19.7 from here (odessa) to Waller (Houston). gets 7-8mpg when I have my deer camp in tow. The 3.73 gears kill it.

2012 f150 SCREW ecoboost,fx4, 3.73, LONG BED, max tow in the hard to find blue flame metallic. Love this truck!

I don;t own either but I have a couple of friends. One has the eco-boost and the other an 8 cylinder that is a few years old. From what they tell me I would go with the 8. Why get the turbo if you can get the same milage with an 8 cylinder.
