Stray mostly anything is shot on site.... Except the neighbors bull and if he dont find a way to keep it in his fence it might get shot too. Pretty tough to shot something that runs up and jumps in your lap if you have any feelings at all. I talked to the lady that has Artemis and she says she don't use a litter box, goes to the door and scratches like a dog, goes out does her thing and back inside.

That cat is the best thing to happen to camp. Free rodent deterent / killer, great at catching snakes. . . I'd like to keep one outside my house but the bloodhound wont stand for it. . .

We've had a few cats come and go, but nothing I wanted to take home. My neighbor actually found a pointer at his lease in Coleman last year and left him there one weekend hoping he would just wonder off. When they got back out there the next Friday he was sitting on the steps of their trailer so he brought him home. Now he is am awesome dog, and a pretty good little bird dog!

My story is a little different. Had a kitten walk in to my place and cute as heck. Took the cat home and wife just loved it and we have had her for over 3yrs and she grew up to be the most miserable S.O.B! I would take this cat out and blow a big hole in it if i didnt think the wife would divorce me. Spent lots of money having it de clawed and fixed but would gladly throw it out the front door and let the dogs eat her. Guess i will never be a cat person. lol.

Every time I take mine to the vet she drools all over the carrier I put her in for saftey. She's siamese, maybe it's a siamese thing.

At an old lease, I watched a feral cat stalk a covey of quail from my deer blind. I wonder if it thought the bobcat that frequented the barn was a friendly relative. It didn't end well for the cat. Only black furr balls here and there in the gravel road were left behind. The quail and other birds on the lease were grateful.
I also missed some type of dog, cur or pit, chasing a buck across the lease. Needed more lead. The rapport and thud in the dirt behind him sent him in a different direction at least.
I'm sure the bobcat ate a quail or two also, but he seemed to be after the mice and pigeons in the barn. He's also a native species.

we used to dispatch em on site as was the rule of our former LO, course we had quail on that ranch and those cats were heck on every bird, even dove. New ranch, no quail, we have one that visits camp and the dump/gut pile, it looks very healthy and fat, so obviously its able to fend of the vultures and yotes and get it fair share of the gut pile. its very skittish and will keep its distance, looks like a fat housecat, but has become country wise.......gonna let him live, cause we have noticed the mice problem around camp is no longer....

Well I know the man very well so I know for a fact that he didn't steal the dog. But he did put a few papers in town at various stores with a picture of the dog and his number and never heard a thing.

We used to give the ferals a pass. After our personal cats moved out to the ranch, we dispatch every one now. (if my wife is gone)
