Did anybody else get stopped and checked on the way home yesterday. We were coming home on I-20 out west and a DPS stopped us, we were wondering why, we were no speeding. Well the trooper had company, the GW was riding with him. So they had to check our 4 wheelers and make sure they were not stolen and check our coolers and all that. It looked like hunters were the only vehicles on I-20. My uncle did not get away clean though, he got ticket for farm tags on his trailer pulling the 4 wheelers, I had to laugh.

It is my understanding that due to the increase in the theft of ATV's, they have conducted these types of stops for the past several years.

My stop was for going 79 in a 65. Now, do I take the defensive driving class on Tuesday and Thursday evenings or do I miss a day of hunting and take it on a Saturday. Decisions, decisions!!!!!

I had the Gw drive right up to my stand. I was like what the hell and he checked me and my gun. My girlfriend was with me and sitting in the chair next to me in my blind and he wanted to throw a big deal. But he couldent get me for anthing so he wanted me to go to the camp house and let him look there and i said you want me to stop hunting so you can search for some thing that i dont have and then i told him i thought it was bs for him to just drive up and end my hunt i told him i have pouchers hunting my stand during the off season and he just smiles now thats an ass hole

Have your Uncle put some feed/hay on the trailer.....
then he "used the ATV to get the feed". Ag use. no ticket??
Forum says "Veteran Tracker". I could not track a garbage truck into a fireworks factory.

Hey Dgilbert, I think I saw y'all stopped on the side of the road! Of course, they could've been doing that to everybody...

The GW pulled into our camp in Foard County and checked us out and said he would be around.

i totally think we saw you pulled over. We had just filled up at the new gas station kinda near thurber and the GW was leaving his truck to get in with the state trooper. Right before they left, they checked us. I cant say its a bad thing though.

Didn't say it was a bad thing. I just think it is funny, out of all the thousands of hunters & trucks that was on the road they pick us. I told my uncle, they must think he looks like a criminal or something, they were very nice when given that ticket.

I would hire an Attorney! They still need cause to stop you. They didn't have that if you were not speeding. Its one thing to be hunting and get stopped by a warden. Its another to be stopped by a DPS officer on I-20. A dps officer must have cause to pull you over. He did not know if you were haulin hay on those four wheelers or Dope. Just my thoughts.

He said the GW was with the officer. Therefore, he doesn't need probable cause.

If they were in a DPS car then the warden was with the DPS officer. Call a spade a spade. The judge will.

We had a game warden pull up to camp Sat. He barely checked over the little 6-pointer that was taken and then proceeded to discuss where everyone on the lease had their stands. Turns out, he and about 4 of his fellow warden friends lease the land right behind ours. This could be a good thing, could be a bad thing...we'll see!!

Darrell, They were doing the same thing all along US 380 and 114 from McKinney out to Olney. The only difference was that most of the game wardens were parked right behind the troopers and vice versa. It was much worse on Sunday afternoon.

What does that matter!?Being opening weekend, four wheeler in the truck ect.is enough p/c for a game warden.

I have to agree with fourtrax. Never had an atv stolen, but I'm glad they do what they do to try to recover the ones that are hot. Now, the GW coming to your stand...that just ain't right!

We didn't get pulled over, but we saw so many local and state law officers on I-35 between Denton and Fort Worth, it looked like one huge speed trap. They were working the traffic during the NASCAR races at TMS.

Here my point. Its hypothetical put possible.
Your driving down I-20 with your nine year old son. You are returning from a hunting trip. You have no wild game with you. You are doing the speed limit and your tags, inspection, sticker, insurance, and everything is as it should be. The Game warden and DPS officer stop you on the shoulder of I-20.As the warden and officer go back to there car to run your tags a car traveling 70 miles an hour blows a tire. The car swerves in front of a truck. The truck runs off the road hitting your truck. You and your son are killed.
The officers chose to be the shoulder of I-20. They chose to put themselves in that position. I am glad they do.
You did not chose to be on the shoulder of I-20 sitting still. The only thing you did wrong was have a four wheeler in the truck and wearing camo.
If your obeying the law I dont think a Warden should be allowed to put you in danger. The shoulder of I-20 is a very dangeruos place! There are alot of other places to inforce game laws that are safer for the warden and the hunters. Just my thoughts.
