How much land do you need to run coon dogs?

That is a impossible question to answer. Sometimes you can turn them loose and they will tree one in 100 yards other times they will run one for 1/2 mile. Heck you never know. When you cut them loose you might as well get ready to cross property lines. I used to coon hunt a lot and with all the housing developments in the country now and people buying land and not wanting people on it I converted to predator hunting. Can't blame the people its there land to say yes or no but your dogs are going to go where they go. They can't read a no trespassing sign.

Just like Ronnie said thats impossible to answer.All dogs are diffrenet as well some stay close make big circle or zig zag,some run in a straight line til a track hits there nose.If you can find 800 or 1000 acre place you should be okay unless u have a dog that is a straight line runner..Went last nite boar coons are rutting now ran one 3/4 of a mile before it took a tree almost cleared the land i was hunting on just varies..Good luck
