Here's a teaser for now. I will post some more pics tommorow. This is my first 1911 and being my 1st 1911 I figured I'd go with "the" quintessential 1911 mfg. So here it is. Colt XSE 1911 government.

Thanks guys, heres one more, I will try to get a couple more up tomorrow. There is a slight mark underneath the slide stop, I made sure to try not to let the "idiot mark" happen to me. I think It may be a piece of lent, but will double check and clean again tonight. It is all stainless, and feels great in the hand. To me the trigger feels like there is too much take up. I think I can adjust that myself. It also feels like it could be smoother. Hope a little oil helps that, but in any case its still better than both of my glock tiggers. The slide to frame fit is not super tight(as I have read to expect from colt)with just a little wiggle under extreme shaking. I am very happy with my decision. It had every feature I was looking for, most inmportantly ambi safety. I figured the cost of having one put on a kimber custom II or a Ruger SR1911 would have put them in the sme ballpark as this colt which really made the decision easy, and the fact that it a COLT.

Pretty! I traded for my Loaded and it came already supplied with the "idiot mark". That's not to say I probably wouldn't have done it myself if it didn't already have it.

I'll bite. What's the idiot mark in the 1911 world?

I'll bite. What's the idiot mark in the 1911 world? It's an ugly scratch. It happens just above and right of the trigger when trying to insert the slide stop through the frame, and barrel link. Usually the cause is these things not being lined up properly and someone trying to force it in there.

Blued.
It's ok, she's a shooter anyway.
The scratch doesn't affect anything but my sensibilities.

I bought my most recent Colt with the mark already supplied. It was exactly what I wanted otherwise, so I went ahead and got it in spite of the mark. I don't have to be careful with that one, which is nice

A few of my shooters have the idiot mark, that`s why they are shooters. Fine gun you have there !

I have a M1991A1 I put the mark on it, I'm not going to pawn it off on a previous owner, but I also made the grips.

Took her to the range today. She shoots great. Took a little getting used to coming from a glock. Groups were pretty good I think for my second time to ever shoot a 1911. I will post a couple pics of my targets at 7yds standing and 20yds seated later. In the mean time, here are a couple more photos.

I did have one problem, not really a big deal but the front dot on the front sight fell off. I tried to call Colt but they were busy for about 2 1/2 hrs and I finally gave up. I'm wondering I would just be better off using some nail polish or testers paint to fill in the void where the dot was.

Pics of my first 2 targets from my first range trip. 1st is about 7-8 yds, and about 4-5 mags. Coming from glocks, my trigger control needs some work...eerrr my 1911 needs a glock trigger not really. 2nd is from about 20yds, 2 mags. TRIGGER CONTROL, TRIGGER CONTROL, TRIGGER CONTROL!!

It'll take a bit to get used to the 1911 trigger, but once you do you'll never look at other pistols the same I shot my (wife's) g21 the other day and just can't bring myself to like it anymore. I guess I'm a 1911 trigger snob now
