The original AWB did not require you to register your weapons.

I don't see how the "your's until death" thing would be enforced. That's dipping into your personal posessions by saying "When you die, the government is entitled to it", which they are NOT. Knowing this would be the case before anyone "registers" a particular firearm would likely discourage most from doing so, and they've gotta know it exists to confiscate or prosecute.

At the very least, it sounds like illegal seizure to me.

Severity can often times come down to matter of opinion. For example the marijuana thing, those folks in CA or CO are in violation of Federal laws therefore the Federal government will be the ones who come in a prosecute. They legalized marijuana in CO and WA, but marijuana is still illegal at the federal level. All indications are that the feds are going to let the states decisions stand.

As far as the question, "will AR-15's be banned in Texas", I say no. They won't be banned anywhere accept maybe in some cities with uber liberal mayors. I don't believe the political will exists to get it done. Too many Dems are gun owners (including Harry Reid)and the ones that aren't remember what happened in 94. Also the "AR industry" is too big. Too many jobs and too much money are associated with ARs. Nobody in congress wants to be responsible for killing all the businesses and jobs associated with ARs.

It wouldn't surprise me if Texas went along with it. They go along with all the other gun laws that violate our second amendment right (chl ,922 ,1986 ban) just a few off the top of my head.

No big deal they won't get these texas firearms. Sorry, just won't happen. spoke with a good friend of mine this weekend who is a state rep, and he says no way, texas will remain free and we will keep our guns no matter what.
