My fav lever gun is the winchester model 88 in 308.
Back when my father bought this rifle I wouldve probably picked 284 win, though it seems pop made the right choice as I have not seen the 284 listed in years.
Maybe Winchester should have named the round 289,,, worked for Ford!

My old Winchester Model 94 30-30 has a lot of sentimental value (First rifle, first deer...), but I really do like the Marlin's action better. I can't bring myself to cheat on the old "94" with another levergun though. Even if it hasn't hunted in 25 years! The Bolts, TC's and AR's (and Bow) get the call, these days.

Nawww, it's a safe queen now. Too many other hammers in the toolbox! The 3 fiddy mag and the 300 Jarrett need some quality time, this year.. & maybe the .454 Casull pistola.

I agree with statesman. 35 rem is a good all around gun for Texas. Comes in loads from 150 grs to 220 grs. I have killed more deer and pigs with this than any other gun I own. Used to be real popular up north. I would still like to have one in a pump action. HAve not shot any of the leverevolutions out of it yet, but I hear there are worth their weight.

I carry a gun because a cop is to heavy!

I don't even own a bolt gun, I don't know why I would need one. I kill antelope, mule and whitetail deer and about a dozen hogs every year with my Marlin leverguns. My only problem is trying to figure out which one to use:

336SC... 219 Zipper
1894CL... 218 Bee
Glenfield 30... 30-30 Win
336A... 30-30 Ackley Improved
308MX... 308ME
336RC... 32 Win Spl
336D... 35 Rem
336SC... 35 Rem
336ER... 356 Win (2 of them)
375... 375 (2, one new in the box!)
1894P... 44 Mag
336-44... 44 Mag
444P... 444 Marlin
444T... 444 Marlin
1895G... 45-70 Govt.
1895MR... 450 Marlin
and a 39A... 22RF

Can you help me find either a 92 winchester or an 1894 Marlin in 25-20, at something short of the National Debt?????

I am in the process of rebuilding a 1907 351 Winchester Self-Loader, to use out on the javelina hunts, but have always felt that the 25-20 is the perfect javelina gun.

I would rather have one of the lever actions and not one of the pumps.

Sniper John...

I love them Marlin 375s too! Here is my action last week behind my house!

I've got one of these fine rifles NIB with the stickers and tags still on it. I'm not sure when I'm going to pull it out.

I'm primarily a 444 shooter, fact is I call it my "Sendero Rifle"... what's in the sendero, lays in the sendero and nothing else.

Out in my mule deer camp I had some guys giving me crap, I'm the only levergun shooter, because I said that if I ever was drawn for the desert bighorn I would use my 444. The next day with a bolt-guy in attendance I killed a huge mule deer buck at 290-yards! They all shut their bolt-action pie-holes as most of them have the latest and greatest but can't shoot for shant.

I've been looking for a Marlin chambered in 25-20 Win myself. I want an 1894CL to go along with my 218 Bee.

Don't see many, this one just closed but I didn't care for the DU emblem:
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=105744812

I need to get one soon along with the 32-20 as I have some molds coming for both. I'll holler if I see something I think you might like.

New in the box!!! I am jealous. With only a little over 16,000 ever made, that is quite a prize you have.

As ammo got harder to find and more expensive I came real close to selling mine and upgrading to a new 444. Also because at the time I could have sold my used 375 for enough to cover the cost of a new 444. I am glad I decided against it. I just set up to reload the 375 instead.

A lever gun I would love to have if I ever found one at a price I could afford is an original Savage 1899 factory produced in .38-55. The .38-55 is the cartridge that the Winchester .375 was developed from.

Did you also know that the 38-55 is the parent cartridge for the 30-30?

Yes,
BTW, I also have two 94s that I think are really neat versions.
1967 Canadian Centennial Rifle with the octagon barrel and the really long 1971 NRA Musket. I have never shot them, but they do not have the original boxes so they are shooters.

The 1907 Winchester you have is one of the guns on my want list. I already have the similar 63 winchester. One of my favorite .22s to hunt with. I should have brought it on that Javelina hunt for the rabbits.

Killed my first deer at 50 yards with a Marlin 30-30, using remington 150 gr. Now I shoot the Hornady Leverevolution ammo. At 100 yrds. I can get groups at 1.5 to 2 inches.
It's a great round and really make my rifle fun to shoot.

1971 model Marlin .22 campers rifle. Never shot anything so acurate with open sights, until my Dad gave me the matching 1971 30-30. Both where a matching set of comemerative rifles comemerating 100 years of rifle making. Ive killed more deer with the 30.30 than anything else in my safe. Skinner
