Words can't express the joy and excitement I felt as a father being at my daughter's side when she shot her first deer yesterday evening. We got to spend some much-needed Father-daughter time in the stand waiting for the deer to start moving. About 5:00 2 does came out of the brush and started chowing down on some corn we put out about 40 yards from the stand. She was about ready to take one when I saw a couple of deer moving in the brush about 80 yards down a shooting lane. Somehow I was able to hold her off and see what they were. Sure enough, both were shooter bucks. One MUCH bigger than we one she got. The bigger 8 never gave her a shot. This one worked his way up the lane eating corn all the way. He finally turned broad side about 45 yards out an I gave her the ok. The AR roared. The buck jumped, lowered his head and started running across the clearing, but only made a few more steps. I had buck fever like I've never felt in my life and was greatly relieved when the buck fell. She told me it was the most exciting thing she's ever done in her life. She's hooked and can't wait to get back out in the woods. Thanks for letting me share this moment with everyone here on the THF.
