Hi, I'm looking for advice on hunting coyotes in the daytime. I've hunted them at night before, but just kind of called in general and never managed to call up a yote. Had a lot of success hunting over a gut pile at night from a deer i shot, but i don't really have anymore bait and would like to try and call them during the day and was looking for some general tips and techniques. What time of day is best, set up, which foxpro call to use etc.

Thanks a lot for any help in advance!
Bob

I have used both an electronic call and mouth call. I used the electronic call first, then once spotted I work them in with a mouth call. My best luck has been at dawn and at dusk. I haven't had a lot of luck during the middle of the day.
When I spot a coyote and it is running at me, I turn off the call or stop blowing the mouth call. If he stops and is still not in gun range, I blow a one or two quick cottontail distress calls to get him coming again. I generally hunt with two guns, a 22-250 and a 12 gauge in my lap. In some cases, the coyote never stopped running at me and I had to use the shotgun. My closest kill was 17 yards on the run at me. Also, TJ Shockler provides great advice and great handmade calls as well. www.tspredatorcalls.com
Good luck

During daylight I am a big fan of using a decoy with some type of motion. Predators that you call in are really going to alert and looking for the meal that they think they hear. Many times you are not going to see the yotes because they will spot you while looking for the source of the sounds, or the slightest movement on your part will tip them off to your presence. Give them something else to focus on with a motion decoy and your sightings of predators will go up... just make sure you are not moving yourself!

I have two little girls; which means if GI Joe ever got to take a vacation he should come to my house...Ahhh, Estrogen Land! Where lonely barbies abound without a single man in site.
