Well I can say that I don't see how it's poor timing for the hunt seeing as this thing has been in the works for over a month. I don't know about your weather predicting capabilities but they are obviously better than mine if you can see rain coming a month away.

Last year was way worse than this and we still had 15 teams show. Since you girls are scared to walk in I guess that's just less competition! Not that y'all were competition anyway!!!

My forecasting skills are no better than yours. I actually thought you did good planning it on a dark night. I was refering to poor timing on the rain, not the hunt.

Just got off the phone with the land owner of the place I was planning on doing most of my hunting. He says "we got 5.5" of rain and you cant even get around down here right now" He is not one to complain of a few ruts in the roads so the smarter side of me thinks I should adhere to his advice. He says the waterways between the fields are standing water. I am checking on some more spots but its not looking good for my team.

If two of my team members have an obligation Saturday morning can they quit hunting for awhile then re-join the team to hunt when their family obligations are fulfilled?

Wish everyone the best of luck! I'd love to get out with a group, but have other commitments for Saturday. Thats what I get for volunteering.

Amcalister... we still good for Sunday? Probably after lunch. The rain has done a number on the range.

Stay safe!

I heard 2 dogs and 2 coons won it.
It was pretty wierd. We got skunked too. Never even got close to taking a shot. We only called in one and he was a long way off. We have some good places, it was crazy not hearing or seeing anything. From the looks of it though, they weren't moving for anyone. It sure makes for an aggrivating 24hs! I guess it was just one of those dead nights.

We didn't call in an animal til 2:00 in the morning and he stayed way out and got away. Killed one at 5:00 AM, had a misfire on the third on the first day stand(Beneli with bolt not all the way closed and a coyote at 25 yards, shooter was watching down wind, never used the Beneli and didn't know what was wrong). On the same stand the other guy watching down wind and had one in his scope 35 minutes into the stand and I shut the caller off and got up not knowing he was watching a coyote. We drove up on another we might could have killed had the rain not had everybody in the truck and unprepared. Admited defeat at noon with one coyote. Sounds like the hunting was poor for everybody. I have never made as many night stands in as many good spots and seen so little. It was a dead night. Seemed like they moved from about 5:00 in the morning til about 9:00 then it was dead again. Not to mention muddy, hazy, rain, and wind. Now just tired.

Maybe we'll be ready for the next one! I sure hope so. The work on the new gun range seems to be dragging a bit due to the weather. But... not going to complain about the rain. Lord knows we needed it.

Stay safe!
