do you mean 17hmr, is so then i would pass. I'd take one if it was free then swap it off for a 22 mag. I had one and think they are junk

I own a 17HMR. Highly accurate rifle at long range. Ive killed coyotes with it. If you put a good shot on pig in the head itll drop. Aim for the ear hole

I'd much rather have a 204, but if it's free or a great price I'd take it.

I'd much rather have a 204, but if it's free or a great price I'd take it. The 204 is a sweet little round. I have not been impressed with the .17hmr, would take a .22 mag over it anyday

Some say they would take a 22 mag over the 17, I'd say get a 22 lr for your varmints, then a 204 for predator hunting, then a deer rifle. The 22 mag has not impressed me yet. So far I've blown up squirrels, blew the guts out of a rabbit, shot a fox at 15 yards that ran that in the other direction, a coon in the face and guts came out of the side, and a unrecovered coyote who took one in the neck. An lr would have saved the meat and hides in the varmints, and a 204 would've saved the pelts and knocked down the predators. Plus 22lr ammo is cheaper than 22 mag. As a matter of fact I chose a .308 over a 30-06 because there is a better ammo selection and I can use it on everything from bobcat to grizzly bear.
