Find out the controlling authority of the lake and give them a call.

I'm not sure where we were but, I hunted on the shore just a few hundred yards from by buddies lakehouse a few years ago. We saw a few ducks but only had a wood duck and a couple of teal come within shooting distance that we dropped.

You need to buy a $48 Annual Public Hunting Permit, or you will get a ticket. When you buy the permit, you get a hunting map. Always good to check the hunting map to know where you can and can’t hunt vs relying on someone on a hunting forum. Foosh also gives some sound advise, call the lake controlling authority, you can get that on the TPWD website, call Jeffrey below is the phone number/address, heck since you are so close, just drive by the lake office and talk to them live to get the low down. http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/huntwild/hunt/wma/find_a_wma/list/?id=23

The Lake and the WMA are two separate things. The WMA is under jurisdiction of TPWD and the office is at Gus Engeling WMA farther down the road. Any hunts outside the draw hunts there, expect to be extremely crowded. Both of the bridges have private land on either side, houses and businesses. The lake is surrounded by private land. You will want to contact the water control district (Tarrant?) for the lake ordnances.

Tarrant County Water District Like Cedar Creek, I do not believe you need an APH to hunt Richland Chambers. Call the Water Authority for details (link above).

Trial and error can be an expensive way to go.

I'll start by saying I always get that AHP, Chambers is my main lake I have been Duck hunting for the past 2 years. The AHP is not necessary on Chambers, but there is the Richland Creek WMA below the Dam where the permit is required. As for walking in from the bridges you are probably talking about the 2859 bridge I have no advice for the legality of that. I hunt from a tiny duck boat w/ a go devil and launch from the closest boat ramp to where ever I decide to hunt. Stay away from the housing developments the gamewarden came to greet me one morning because of a complaint called in, but I was legal distance no ticket. By the way it is a she and she follows the law very strictly no BS. So be legal before you go don't take my word call the game warden so you are 100% This is only what I do. Listen to "GUY" Trial and error can be expensive! Good luck

I use to hunt RC way back in the day...when there was still timber to hunt!!!!!!!! (80's) I also hunted the MARSH project when it first opened before anyone really knew about it... Took a guy out there and he told "the world" or so it felt!!!!!!! Hunted the river a time or two...and did well... Area can be very good...and it can be terrible... I had the pleasure of seeing the most boats at one ramp ever!!!!!!! Counted 37 trucks and trailers on an opening morning one year...we shot our limit of a mixed bag...but on the water at 1:00 a.m. and still didnt' get our spot! That was back then... Good luck! J.J.

ummn im pretty sure no perment is required for cedar creek been hunting there since i could shoot and ive never had one, the lake is owned by the corp. and its public they dont even have a rule on what you can shoot, i hunt deer, hogs and ducks from the lake bottom and do good, shoot rifles all the time, been checked by game wardens almost every time were out there, they have never said a thing to us...

"pretty sure"??? The Corps is not the controlling authority for CC. Not going to reproduce the document here, but the current CC General Ordnance adopted March 19, 2002 which covers firearms Section VII and hunting Section VIII, is very clear and without a doubt that ONLY shotgun, only steel shot, and only for waterfowl hunting is legal there.
Rules may have changed since you hunted there, so not saying what you did was illegal. Just don't want people doing something that would get them in trouble because they read your post. Realize game wardens took away a trophy deer taken by a bowhunter on RC WMA (not far from CC) simply because the guy did not fill out an on site registration form. That made his deer illegal and he was forced to pay over $12,000 in civil restitution to the State. Same area, same game wardens, so taking a deer on CC with a rifle which is illegal could be an expensive violation. And if the judge calls it poaching, a felony.

well im pretty sure, we hunted the lake bottom just a few weeks ago for hogs and did pretty good, shot two with rifles and were checked by the game wardens and they never said a thing were out there almost every weekend, i guess it just depends on which area of the lake you hunt for if they will say anything or not... the mabank sherriff hunts hogs in the same area also and he also uses a rifle! but before anyone goes i guess just check and call the game warden office before you leave, i was always told it was ok by every game warden that has ever stopped us and we are usually checked by the same three...
