Okay - we just placed a new ground stand on our lease 2 weeks ago. It is nice, painted good camo, and has a lot of Cedar trees around it.
I've heard many people say it takes months for a new object like that to become "normal" and ignored by deer enough for them to travel by it again.
Also - it has not had a feeder on it at all since we just put it there 2 weeks ago.
Should I avoid hunting from this blind until we can get a feeder out there and until after it's been there a season. Maybe just put a feeder there and let it sit this season and hunt from it next year?

If you knew it was a natural funnel area then I would hunt it without the feeder. As far as it taking months, I have never heard that before. I have always waited a couple weeks which it has already been two so I would say yeh hunt it. As for the feeder, if you put up a feeder now then I would wait a couple weeks before I hunted it so the deer had time to get used to it. My $0.02

As we've discussed in the "Cover Scent" thread, Kent, the camo paint scent shouldn't affect your hunt too bad since it's been in the elements for a couple of weeks. And, as calls mentioned, the newness of the location should be worn off too by now...unless you've located out of the deer's general stomping grounds. Still, since you've not put out feeders to draw them in, the usual suspects should have no problem showing up at their normal times.
Did you scope out the location real good before setting the blind?

If the stand has been up for a couple weeks, hunt it. It doesn't take deer months to get used to new structures in their environment. As a matter of fact, I'd put up a feeder and hunt it next weekend.

We set a blind on the ground on a road we had been pouring corn on going in. We set it up after a morning hunt and I hunted it that evening and saw alot of deer. Some crossed the road and some ate the corn for a while. Just my $.02

Go ahead and hunt it. I have walked in before and set up one of my "outhouse" pop-up blinds and killed deer out of it that same day.

Hunt it. I placed a ground box on the edge of a field about three weeks ago and sat in it the other day and had two does walk within fifty yards and walk by browsing as if it weren't there. It sticks out like a sore thumb and I'd thought about toning it down (light green) with some camo paint but the deer don't seem to mind so it's staying.

Definitely hunt it. We did the exact same thing last year, and my son shot a buck out of a stand that had only been there a week. It also did not have a feeder at it, so before he got in the stand, we dumped some corn on the ground around the stand. That evening he had several does eating the corn, and then a nice little 8 point showed up and was checking out the does.

I think you should let someone else hunt it and try it out first...just to make sure your not wasting your time.

I say give it a shot. I placed a ground blind at a location and had deer eating at the feeder two days later. I don't think they get too spooked if it somewhat fits into the landscaping. Or you could do as someone mentioned, let someone else hunt it first, taking a chance on them shooting the monster.

Hunt it dude. If you put it there for a reason, funnel, trail, saw a deer, felt like it had the mojo, whatever.
Just grab yourself a bit of corn, spread it out and sit.
Best of luck!

I moved a ground blind in plain view of my tube feeder 50 yrds away and they ate 40lbs of corn that night.

Looks like that won't be necessary. We're going to go up there next weekend and I'm going to hunt this stand Sat morning. Will get out there nice and early to spread some corn around and see how it goes.
Mojo felt good...let's just see.
