Located in Archer County just South of Holliday, TX. Mesquite beans, cactus, many species of brush, plenty of water and good deer management - all add up to "Quality Whitetails". We have devoted our ranches to deer management for over 12 years and we are seeing some great results. We don't have the numbers that the hill country has, nor do we want to. Our buck/doe ratio is healthy and our deer per acre is below capacity. My pasture is 1100 +/- acres and has camp with electric and a good road in and out. We have 3 spots open for this year. The lease runs from February 1 thru January 31, we are allowed all game and varmint except for quail. We have strict harvest rules in place and I will also tell you not to expect to kill a trophy buck every year. We also don't harvest many doe so if you are looking for a place to kill deer for meat this is not a good fit for you. Our shooters will be 8pts have to be 130" + and 9 pts and up need to be 140"+. We had two deer over 150" get tagged this year. The hunting is very challenging so don't expect a mature buck to walk into a feed pen opening morning. The cost of the lease is $2,000 per hunter per year. Guests and family are welcome but will hunt off your allotment. The first buck scored 155 1/8, the second was rough scored at 163 and the third got a free pass due to the broken main beam.

i would jump all over this if I had the money! I hunted this EXACT same area for 3 years, killed 12 trophy turkeys in that time and one HUGE 150" whitetail buck. too bad the guy I leased from was a total JERK and kicked me off the lease because I was "TOO SUCCESSFUL" and the other hunters were jealous of my trophy deer....

It's funny how jealousy gets in the way. It's not your fault you know how to do your homework and set up for the best oppurtunity. Some guys just don't get it.

Is this lease part of the cross timber ranches leases? If so check out thier web site guys, they take some really nice deer and look to be a very good mngt. minded group. If i wasn't already on a good place i wouldn't pass this one up...

You will NOT be disappointed, the deer in Archer county are HUGE! A little known fact, way back in the 1800's when the cattle barons owned most of Archer, Baylor, Young & Throckmorton counties they were tired of having to travel days to hunt trophy whitetails so they pooled their money and imported deer from Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas & other northern states and released them on their ranches. That is why you have giant large body whitetails in that part of Texas at least that is the story that was told to me by the great great grandson of Mr. Parkey
