Very appealing price but anybody have anything to say about this rifle? Any alternative?

I LOVE mine! Accurate and VERY handy to carry. Lots of options for changing pull length, scope mounting and open sights.
I have a few 3, 5 and 10 shot factory mags and they all have been 100% so far.

Love mine. I have several .308's, this is my new favorite. So versatile and handy. Edited to add: I have a 3-9x40 illuminated reticle scope on mine, mounted traditionally. It did start stringing shots vertically and I found the rear Ruger mount had backed out 1/8 turn. Put a few pounds of torque on it and it now shoots figure-eight groups at 150 yards. It's more accurate than a short-barreled rifle has a right to be. It won't replace any of my other .308's, but when I go out not knowig exactly what I will be shooting (deer, pig, coyote, etc...) it's what I grab.

EXACTLY how I feel about mine, I have a Leupold 3-9x40 on it and it's the only rifle I've used this season. Plain old Remington 150 Cor-Lokts = nice tight groups and DRT critters within 200 yards.

I still have Jeff Cooper in my head telling me I want the Styr Scout.
How does the Ruger measure up against it?

I REALLY want one of these. Please stop talking about it.
Seriously though, I've read a lot of reviews on this, consensus seems to be that it's almost as good as the steyr at 1/3 the price. I actually like the looks of the ruger better.

Never shot the Steyer, so I don't know how they compare. I do know they are EXPENSIVE. Here is a bit of opinion, though: http://www.scoutrifle.org/index.php?topic=1219.0
