Just recently sent my lab off for training. She is 7 months old and has been inside. I am wanting to mover her outside once she returns to a dog run I am building her. Wife is very much against this. Do you keep your working retriever as an inside dog or outside? Between my two young boys and wife I worry about them spoling her.

Your dog being in the house is not gonna ruin her for training or hunting

Mine owns the bed. She just allows me to rent a very small piece of it. Between her and my wife I might as well sleep on the couch. Must me a woman thing.

in/out doggy door. If it's nice out 70-80s she'll lay out in the grass most of the day.

Inside dog for sure. Makes life way more fun. She still hunts just fine.
When your dog comes back, make sure the wife and kids do some obedience work with her to show her the pecking order.

Not too many fellas have this size run for their dawgs and still have them live in the house with the family full time ... Playing with the grand kids ... Watching DU TV together ... Notice how much room they allow me to have on the bed? Helping grammie get their dinner ready ...

X2 At least till they grow up a bit. My 9.5 year older dog is 99.9% inside. The 21 month old is flip flopped on the ratio.

inside most of the time....hunts just fine...IMO I wanted to build the strongest bond between me and my dog....being inside was the best way for me to do that...not sure if it has anything to do with it or not but I swear she can read my mind...couldn't be more pleased with the way she hunts

My dog stays inside all the time, and she does fine hunting. I would not worry about spoiling your dog, not a good reason to put them outside jmo.

I think if your dog is inside, that will just offer you more opportunity to train and socialize your dog.

Mine stays outside durning the day and comes in at night to sleep. I think a dog is meant to be outside more then inside. Just me though

Both.
Outside during the day and inside in the evenings and overnight. Mine sleep in a wire kennel that they even sleep in with the door open if they get tired. We don't usually let them go in the bedroom areas.

Mine is an indoor dog. She's 2 year old this month and just got to do her first retrieve this morning. She was injured last year a layed out all of last season and spent most of the summer recovering and training. Work and paying for college for two "had" us sidelined up until yesterday. She was gun shy a little until she retieved a greenhead for us this morning and now when she hears gun fire; even at a distance, she wants to charge the dekes. I had a little trouble with her picking up the bird because she had never picked up a real bird but I kept resetting her and picking up the bird and throwing and giving her the "fetch" command and it and eventually it "clicked" in her head, took maybe two minutes to turn on that switch.....

Inside, i haven't been able to keep my dog for the last year and a half since i work offshore. my girlfriend keeps her and she does everything you possibly can to ruin a hunting dog, dresses her up for Halloween, her little cousins play fetch with her. Sleeps on the bed, never makes her do anything she doesn't want to do and i haven't noticed a single difference in her performance or drive. She knows she can get away with anything with my girlfriend and nothing with me.
