Recently acquired this old girl. Solid as a rock, but the "stain" that they used at the factory was a lot more like cheap paint.





So I decided to give her a facelift





Started with 80 grit- that old paint/stain was tough! Went to 150 and finished with 220. Ended up with a really nice looking stock

I wanted to try dying the wood, but Walmart didn't have the colors I wanted in stock, so I went with good old Minwax. Did two coats, then 6 coats of Tru Oil, which is extremely hard to find around these parts!





And the finished product



The case hardening still looks good



And it even has a vent rib barrel



Pretty happy with this old gal, can't wait for next dove season to roll around...

I keep hoping they'll build an academy in Greenville- heck, we're a town of 25,000 without a single sporting goods store, you'd think it would be a prime location. Nearest one to me is McKinney, but I do go there pretty often. Thanks for the tip!
