Had a great birthday Friday and got to enjoy the weekend hunting with my buddies. Couldn't have asked for a better birthday weekend than to shoot these....  Saturday-4 man limit of Pintail, Widgeon, Teal, Gadwall and spoonies.  Sunday-3 man limit of Pintail, Teal, Gadwall, Mottle and spoonies. Just hoping the birds stick around for the remainder of the season! We were absolutely covered in Pintail yesterday. Had them landing in the decoys after we had our 6. Could have easily filled our strap with 18 Bullsprigs if the law allowed!

No, he actually got donated to the wildlife refuge. They're doing studies on them and asked if they could have it. Usually they just take the gizzard and a wing but they wanted the whole bird.

No, he actually got donated to the wildlife refuge. They're doing studies on them and asked if they could have it. Usually they just take the gizzard and a wing but they wanted the whole bird. Did y'all check out real late at McFaddin yesterday? We came in real late and the guy at the check station was removing gizzards out of several Blacks.

The biologist at McFaddin and at Anahuac says the Mottled duck population is declining uncontrollably fast and if they couldn't figure out why they were headed to the threatened/endangered list.

That's why I donated it. Only reason I shoot them is because they're the most banded duck in our region. Most of the time I try not to, but unfortunately we needed one more and he flew over with his hen and...you see the results.
