Had a buddy come up from Houston this weekend and we went after em from Thursday-Sunday.
Started Thursday with a 2 man limit of Grey with a mallard sprinkled in. One gad is missing from the pic but oh well.

Friday had one more join and filled a 3 man with mainly grey, a teal and widgeon drake. Don't have a good pic for this one as it might reveal too much. I did have my first run in with the game warden at this location but it went just fine. Something about approaching them with your license/other info makes them more at ease I guess. He was actually very helpfull and gave us some good info on the location we didn't know.
Saturday was the best day of the season for me due to the variety and number of birds we had decoy. Started by breaking ice to create a hole. Dropped two home made bilge pump duck butts in the spread to keep it broken up. We had birds working until mid day. We filled a 2 man limit of 4 sprigs, 4 greenheads, 2 widgeon drakes and 2 gad drakes. We took our time and enjoyed it while we picked out the drakes. Was an absolute blast.

Then Sunday we went made quick work of a three man limit so my buddy could get back to Houston at a decent hour. Finished by 8 or 8:30. We actually had to scoot back on this spot because the birds were landing too close to us. I almost took one the gads head off. It was a great weekend with good friends. Can't beat 4 straight days of limits!

Now I've got to go to Honolulu for work for the next week and a half and will miss a weekend of hunting. Is it sad I wish I was going hunting rather than going to the beach? I did score enough browney points by taking the wife with me so I'll get to hunt the rest of the season pretty strong!
