I think since the duck commanders became way over rates more and more people are at public spots with a 20 dollar call and 6 decoys blasting away and trashing places I've hunted for years?

I think ending the 30 day 3 bird limits were way overrated. Back then there were NO guides, few other hunters. You got quick easy limits.

Cannot blame them on cashing in on the crazy $ world of reality TV. Sure their duck calls are not great, but they are selling to the masses that would have no idea how to work a RNT

To be honest im kinda sick of these threads, there has been quiet a few of them. I understand the frustration, but most of those people will hunt 3 maybe 4 times be unsuccesful and call it quits. But those who go, are probaley unsuccesful, but grind it out and learn to love it are the additions we need to the hunting ranks. We need more hunters, we are a dying breed, and if we get mad because some people are trying hunting and not doing it how we do then hunters will be no more. We were all new once.

BINGO!! Now stop bitching, if you are hunting the same spot as a "duck commander wannabe" then you aren't scouting hard enough. And who knows how or why these people started duck hunting, but its unfair to assume its because of a reality show.

X2. A duck call maker who used to whizz through cracks in the wall of a shack to crossing over into pop culture getting shot in the arse with dollars. Good for them. If they can do it that means we have a shot at it too. Shotgun in one hand and a bible in the other. He never gave up on living a good life, he was blessed. Good people.

Yep the topwaters will thin out when they see it takes some effort and they get cold the first time or two. They'll always be a certain percentage that will make the cut and stick with it but for the most part the majority of these folks will drop out..........

I've never watched not even one episode of thier shows. My wife does though.

Of all the DD shows I've watched, I don't remember one about an actual duck hunt. Squirrel killing, beaver killing, snake killing....not any duck killing. Phil playing with the grand kids shooting decoys with BB guns doesn't count. No lake naming going on...just don't see the show spawning barney's. Just a bunch of rednecks goofing off...with a family dinner and prayer to end the show.

They are making a lot of money doing what they love and you are not so I dont think they are morons.

We had a conversation about them in the office. We have three men in the CSI division with over 20 years experience, two woman who are barely that old. The two woman can quote every episode. There is a thread about them or they are quoted on this forum nearly daily. They are without question the most successful duck call makers, ever and probably forever. Their run will end soon enough. I hope they enjoy every minute of flash fame. Pop culture has a way of leaving you high and dry. So get it while you can Robertson family. I someow have a feeling they will go right back to frog catching and duck killing.

That's exactly what I was thinking when I was reading the intial post....I miss watching the old Duck Commander shows when they actually showed them hunting. However I enjoy Duck Dynasty, even though it's staged they still do a great job and the show is very entertaining.

The people who call them "sell outs" have probably never been offered the kind of cash those guys were offered. You know their sales has to have gone through the roof since Duck Dynasty started. Heck of a business move if you ask me.

If we have to have a face/personality that represents our sport, Phil Robertson, a strong Christian man who loves to hunt is a pretty darn good one. Just my 2 cents!

In my opinion, the nice warm weather this year has probably brought out more new duck hunters than a show.

I kind of feel bad for a guy that calls people morons then goes on to write something that can't be understood. Ironic huh.
