You need to definitely be on the phone making calls and getting as high up as you can go in the chain of command.

That is unacceptable behavior from a grown man. I would be contacting corporate and giving a full report.

I called his GM and had a chat. The GM told me that the guy is just a door greeter and keyholder, not a manager
The first thing he did was say that he agreed that it was utterly out of line, and that he would have a conversation with the guy in question.
He explained to me that that employee is mentally handicapped. I assumed he wasn't all there from the way he was talking.
I told the manager that i wouldn't pursue this any further but that I'd appreciate him making sure that it never happened again, as I wouldn't be as understanding the second time

I would go back and talk to store manager. Besides insulting you he should be fired for making such a rude and disgusting reference to tragic events. x2 Edit: didnt read entire thread, glad you went back and talked to them

It was the Austin academy on 183
I might make a call about it tomorrow, but i'm not sure it's worth the effort. It's MOST definitely worth the effort. Follow thru on this please. Loud mouth punk boy needs his slats kicked. Hard. ^^^^ Yup. Definitely don't let this slide. The employee has zero business asking that question and YES, I would be very offended. The manager should definitely be catching an ear load as well. Edit: im late on this one, just read the OP's last post.

Hopefully the manager can work with him so something like this wont happen again. Looks like it'll all work out, thanks for letting us know. You did the right thing.

Hummm....Mentally handicapped person a greeter and "keyholder"...I sense a problem here, especially with guns and ammo in his charge.

Glad you followed up on it!
Glad Academy is hiring challenged persons but I think I would've asked him to go get his manager "right then" and we would've gone to a private area and had a "learn a lesson" chat.

This jerk should be reported. Very unprfessional. A snide remark to a tragic event is unexcusable. Not sure I would be offended but would have been shocked speechless.
If the 2nd amendment was written just to include guns for hunting, why is there not an amendment to protect fishing poles?

First I would have informed him that I was PAYING his salary. Then you can get the 800# for corperate, inform them of time and place. When you let them know they can make STUFF roll down hill.

He not only insulted you he insulted all of us shooters . You can go through 500 rounds in just a few week ends if you are shooting matches or just target shooting. Also get his name so when he comes asking for you to protect him because he doesn't own a gun you can hand him a stick and tell him good luck! He was also doing a disservice to his employer. I think my first question would have been, "What? You mean this store is selling something illegal? Why are you working here then?" And then the conversation would have gone downhill from there. I would have asked for the store manager at some point, and if he was the store manager, I'd have gotten his name and a phone call would have been made to Academy's home office ASAP. We've got to stand up to this folks. The fight is on. And if we don't stand up for our rights with words now....it won't be long before peaceful options will no longer be available.

Good job man. And the guy being mentally handicapped goes a long way toward explaining his actions. After all....."liberalism is a mental disorder."
