Went hunting last night at my grandpas land with my brother that we've been hunting for 7 years now. Never had a single problem out there for as long as we've hunted. When we drove up a neighbor that lives nearby and is the only known hunter around us. I hunt a total of about 100 acres, he hunts about 15-20 that I know of. We get to talkin and he tells us he normally doesn't hunt out there but we've got some good deer running around this year so he decided to hunt this year. He asked where our stands were because he is rifle hunting now and doesn't want to shoot us. So he eventually drives on after trading pics of deer as we go on to hunt. I eventually pass up about a 110" or so 3.5 8 point and so and shoot a cull. Driving out, he's sitting at the gate waiting on us. He goes on to tell me he's pissed because I "blasted right at him". I hunt a corn field in a 15' tall tripod with mesquites all around me and about 100 yards of timber between me and any houses. He tells us he watched the does that were with the buck run off and I was entirely too close to be hunting with a rifle (Remember he also is rifle hunting). I'm at least 350 yards to his property line and at least 600 to his house, with trees between.
Now today we went back out there and checked our property line. We have a block of 60 acres connected by the point, then goes on with about 50 of creek bottom that we bow hunt. There is a creek that separates the two. He has his stand on the very corner of his place, on the edge of both of our blocks of land. I believe him that I shot at him now because he's on our **** property line!! He called the cops and glad he did. I've told this guy about all the no does except in bow season and ARs! We're in east Bell county. Needless to say I'm fired up about it. I passed up that same 8 pt this morning. Ill post pics later. What do y'all think? Am I in the wrong?

No, sounds like he was jealous of your success. I'd keep hunting and not give it a 2nd thought. If he said anything again, I'd tell him to &^^%*( himself, unless you don't think you could take him. In that case, I'd simply tell him you disagree.

You're in the middle of your place 350yds from the property line? Yeah, I'd tell him to get bent, and to back his crap off the line. I have to admit, I have a stand on a property line, but its in a remote spot that the neighbors never hunt around. He needs to shut up.

I'd like to be friend with this guy because this is the only place we can hunt. He has another place that he normally hunts. So if we piss him off, he can shoot whatever and whenever because he lives out there. Before this incident we were on good ground, talked to him every now and then we he saw me at my truck. The guy told us he had 7 bucks at his house, and showed us pics of all the big studs out there as we talked about them. He's got some power in the situation no matter how much land we have to his small portion. He only needs so much to be able to hunt.

My ranch surrounds a smaller one and the guy has all his stands/feeders on my fence line. I of course and driving down the fence lines to get to my other stands and such. Im sure it pisses him off but he also shoots anything with antlers(regardless of size) so I don't really care.
Just doing it for fun now.

the city sh-t that has bought up all these 10 acre plots and shoot up the country side are getting on my nerves also. they cannot grow deer on 10 acres, but think they can shoot as many as walk by. it will not be long until the deer population starts a decline in these areas and hopefully they will migrate back to the city where their ignorance is acceptable. there is no excuse for a deer stand on the property lines. common courtesy, which does not exist in the city, tells you that that you need to back off of the property line a little to be safe and a good neighbor.

I normally would say try and work it out with the guy, but that fact that he called the cops on you is down right crazy. If I were you, at this point, I would tell him I am moving my stands right up against his property line so that you can shoot away from his property. And tell him to suck it.

Tuff, I think he mentioned the guy lives out there, doesn't sound like a city dude to me. Tgyr may very well be the city dude but definitely not in the wrong.

Some of the best (and smartest) hunters I've seen live in the city. To stereotype every one in any group is what's ignorant. As for the OP, to me you're on solid ground and him calling the cops probablyy ended any hope of getting along. Good luck with the situation.

Would much rather a stand be on the fence than the feeder

And where do you live splash? I live about 15 miles outside of B/CS. I've also lived in the city. Didn't always like it but life circumstances dictate sometimes. Yourself?

I would worry about it, this city dweller is trying to buy up everything out in the Nac boonies back home and I'm by far the best hunter on the property this morning.

Well his feeder is about 50 yards from the stand. So you can figure 50 yards from both pieces of my land. Splash, I live in BCS, we've got about 25 acres in snook as well that we don't hunt.

Here's a layout of the land. 1 is where we bowhunt. 2 is where we rifle and bow. The star on 2 is my rifle stand, while the star in the green corner is his stand, with the white star being his feeder.

I'm guessing he just doesn't want to get shot. The way he has his set up pointed inward seems to justify that. I'd go talk to him and apologize and tell him you didn't know he had moved his stand and try to get along with him. I bet y'all can work something out

I thought you could not put a stand or feeder on a property line.it has to be so far off the property line.I would call the GW and check it out before i said anything to him.know your rights.Because i had a problem come up with a neighbor were i hunt at he shot me twice with a shotgun in my stand.i called the GW he told him he was interfering with my right to hunt.Since then no more problem.

Sounds like a planned move to give you a hard time just to get you go away and/or give him more room to hunt.
