I have a taxi in Ardmore, Ok that will do ducks for $150 each if I bring him at least 4 to do. He also does pretty good work. Does anyone know of anyone that can turn around ducks in less than 6 weeks and do it for this price or less in the Frisco, Tx area?

I think you will be very dissapointed if you find someone. Whomever can do that probably isnt going to be worried to much about the quality. Trust me Ive gone tha bargin route only to wish I had been patient and paid more. Id get them to Matt (birdworks) or Pat (Avian Arts! Just my 2 cents take if for what you will!

I agree that going the cheaper route you will end up being disappointed.
Doesn't sound like you are patient so I wouldn't even consider birdworks. No telling when you would ever see your birds again.
I'd reccomend Avian arts. You won't regret it

As stated, I would never give up quality work for fast and cheap.
Pat McGruder at Avian Arts in Frisco is the best around, but he is more expensive than $150 and will take longer than 6 weeks unless you are willing to pay for rush service. Pat is the ONLY person I would take a bird to.

I have no idea why it takes taxi's in DFW or Texas for that matter so long to finish a mount....besides they put certain clients on "top of their list". Or, they could just have that much business.
You would be surprised at what the prices for great mounts in Oklahoma and Kansas costs. Again, for $150, I can get an awesome mount and they are usually back to you within the same month you bring them.
I am not saying that the taxi's mentioned aren't great or maybe even a little better (but, I doubt it) than some of the ones up north.
If you can't answer my original question, please don't reply. Not trying to be a hard arse, I am just trying to see if there is someone out there with the criteria I listed.

No, I don't know of any taxidermist with a 6 week or less turnaround time for $150 or less. Good luck with that.

This should have been everyones answer No, I don't know of any taxidermist with a 6 week or less turnaround time for $150 or less and produces quality mounts. Good luck with that.
I'd ask him if he's pregnant. He missed a s__tload of periods. I'll take "things that look like a uterus" for $200 Alex.

If everyone must know.... one of the guys in Ardmore that does them for $150, here you go: http://photos.jjdeerandducks.com/AlbumHomeView.aspxI am not here to promote anyone's business. I was willing to give someone a little closer some business. I have found another person a little closer. Lots of good Taxi's out there.

Thanks for providing the website. I dont know the guy, and I have not seen his birds in person. However, based on the pictures on his website, his work is no where NEAR what many bird taxidermists put out.

Either way, good luck with your search, and whichever taxidermist you find.

Wow............. I don't know the guy and I've only had 2 birds mounted, but you may(should) look at some of the taxis on here as suggested. Look close and you'll notice that taxis that do all kinds of animals are quite as good as those that specialize in one type of animal.
I'd ask him if he's pregnant. He missed a s__tload of periods. I'll take "things that look like a uterus" for $200 Alex.

You pay for what you get. Listen to what everyone is telling you. I'm going to let the difference in the pictures speak for themselves. If you can't see it, I don't know what to tell you. $150 vs. $295

I will say that I did this back when I was in college and had a guy in Houston that charged $135 for a bird and had it done in 3 weeks. After the years have passed I have had Avian Arts do some birds for me and the differance in quality is very noticable. They are your birds and I am not here to put down any ones work but I will say I would consider that a mount is some thing that you are going to have for a life time if the work is done right and the way I see it is that if your going to invest in a mount then invest in it for the long haul. Good luck to you.

Agreed. Pat did two for me. He was really fast because it was right before the new season. In my opinion 3 or 4 months is well worth it when you are planning on looking at a bird for the next 25 years.

Great taxidermists have a backlog for a reason. 150$ guys don't for a reason. Is this a real post or are you trolling?

A good solo taxidermist can do 2 maybe 3 high quality mounts. Some of these guys have 500+ birds in the freezer. Do the math....

Red, I don't have a facebook page, but I'd like to check out some of your mounts and prices.

To answer the question no but when I look for a bird taxi I look for the high priced ones first. I want quality and $150 don't buy it. Avian Arts has not done a bird for me but Ive seen em and that's the work I want. If I couldn't afford to pay for the best I wouldn't have it done. No reason to pay for a bird with a stretched out neck, crooked wings and feathers all outta place.

Here's a free mount witha 3 week turnaround. Letting the birds rebuild on our spots to repay the guys that took us mottled hunting a few weeks back. They're going to pay rent on Thursday and Friday. knocked out a few birds for a couple of a buddies.

Another freebie with a one yr turnaround. I'm just a garage shop guy and think 150 is too cheap. I have $70 cost in each bird and 4-5 hrs time. But I buy my heads painted, best bodies and eyes I can get too. And a bobble head for lunch.
