Has anyone tried a exhaust silencer for there 4 wheeler. There is a kolpin muffler in the cabelas catalog that say its 50% quieter than stock. I would like to be able to ride halfway to my stand in the morning without scaring every animal in the woods.

I have the bens rider on my grizzly 600. Works very well, and low rpms and idle.

I used the kolpin for a few years. I did work very well on my Yamaha. It increased the acceleration also. Backed into something and broke it but it

i bought the benz silent rider for my 2012 honda 420. i would agree with twinbubba 50% quieter overall. it reduces exhaust noise by 80% but does nothing for the engine. newer quads will have a quieter engine where older wont. I'm off of 380 and Ridge road if you want to come by and slip my benz on your quad... as long as you don't have to have the adapter, it will slip right on and you can see for yourself.

You should give some serious thought to thanking your lucky stars your from Texas.

I am hearing about back pressure problems and blowing head gaskets. I'm 50/50 with everyone I've talked to. I really want something on my Ranger 400 but Polaris isn't recommending it and won't warranty anything.

Thanks for the replys. Can you buy the benz silencer locally or do you have to order it?

Added the Benz on my Honda 500 and does a good job of quieting the exhaust.

We have tried silencers on several 4 wheelers and on one of our Rangers. They do reduce exhaust noise, not sure about 50% but they are definitely quieter.
The biggest issue we have had is the fact the engine performance is reduced dramatically and becuase of the increased back pressure they create we were worried we would do motor damage.

My Rhino is pretty loud. Kolpin kept it quieter, but I too was worried about engine damage. Its been through enough already.

I had the Kolpin on my Honda 300 and did not notice anything at all. Not worth the money.

As long as you keep the engine speeds low, backpressure won't be a big factor. It's when you start riding it like normal that backpressure goes up and thus it can lead to motor problems. But as long as you are just putting around, you won't see any significant increase in backpressure so there shouldn't be any motor damage.

God has a plan and something special in mind for all of us. Do you know the direction that God wants to send you?

You are correct... if you put a silencing muffler on a Polaris your warranty is trashed.

My buddy had one of the silencing mufflers put on his Ranger XP and it had a lot less power and didn't seem quieter. Not worth it!

Has anybody ever tried to adapt a regular muffler for like a Honda Civic to an ATV/UTV. I've been thinking about giving it a try.

You wouldn't want to void your 6 month warranty on your $12000+ toy, I own a ranger and its amazing to me how bad utv warranties suck. Piece of shits.
