I noticed TPWD listed has a Fall turkey season that runs through February 24th in Brooks, Kenedy, Kleberg, and Willacy Counties.

Would it actually be possible to do a Spring shotgun hunt in these counties during Mid-February? Would the birds already be gobbling that early in deep south Texas?

I know I'm always itching to turkey hunt in February and was wonder if this might be an option.

Yes it would be an option. A little early but a lot of the breeding has taken place before season starts in March. I have played around with them in Mississippi in late January before and had gobblers come in strutting and gobbling. That was calling in some for a photographer.

And if you are looking for a bird to mount the earlier the better. They won't be as beat up from strutting and fighting.
