Anybody use any of those cheapo $100 plastic Remington feeders you buy in a kit from Academy? Was thinking about picking up a couple for the price, but just wondering if they were junk or what.

NOT SURE WHICH ONES YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT BUT IF THE LEGS CONNECT TO THE BARRELL WITH A BAND AROUND THE BARRELL, YES THEY ARE JUNK!
I USE SOME CHEAPO $100 MOULTRIES FROM WALMART I LIKE PRETTY WELL AS LONG AS THEY ARE IN A PEN WHERE COWS CAN;T GET TO THEM.

No cows to worry about, just hogs. Will probably have to secure the feeders to stakes with wire. Mmmmm....just curious. Need some feeders soon for a new lease and I'm looking for the BEST cheapos I can find.

My brother has two of them...for about 1.5ish years now and has had pretty good luck with them, especially for the price.

Only thing is the coons and squirrels crawl up there and rake ALOT!!! of corn off the spinner plate and it is hard to attach a varmint basket.

Make sure you stake the legs good, oh and get the spinner plate that is the diamond shaped metal...on the plastic ones the little wings where it catches the corn to throw, they break VERY regular, metal ones no problems.

Pretty good deal for the money. Good Luck!!

I have 3 of the remington 100 dollar feeders from academy. They have been working fine for about 2 years now, no complaints on them at all. The coons do get to the spinner, but all feeders have that problem unless you get a varmit gaurd, or pvc the legs.

We have a couple of the Remi's and if you can find a tree just hang them. I use a homemade spreader bar and then hang with cable from a tree! I put at a perfect height were the hogs and cattle cant reach, but perfect to fill up in the back of the truck!

I just bought a spin tech motor which holds tight up to the barrel the drops when it spins. Cool concept... the jury is out.

Remington makes a good timer but the legs can be flimsy. Look on Craig's list as alot of hunters have given up hunting due to the high costs of it all.
