What did you pay for a bag of deer corn last year? Where did you pay those prices? What do you expect the price to be this year?

Paid $7.25 most of the time last year, except when I went to San Angelo! The Wal-Mart there had 50lb bags for $5.25 every now and then!
Most of the time I bought the corn in Blackwell Texas at that little feed store since it was only about 4 miles from my lease!
I fully expect to pay about $11 this year!

I bought quite a bit from Wal-mart. But HEB had apple scented corn just as cheap. I buy from Moor's ranch just down the road. Last time it was 7.65 #50

Paid 6.50 per 100 two years ago and now its close to $20. Feed store close to our place says that due to the drought, alot of the corn has to be shredded due to higher than normal levels of aflotoxins. Any truth to that?

During turkey season we bought 50# corn for $6.50 just about anywhere in Coleman or Cross Plains. I just called the IGA in Coleman, and the lady said 50# was $11.00. I called because Academy had 40# bags for $6.99 and I wanted to see how it priced out per lb. Needless to say Academy was cheaper. Get it while you can.

Thanks for the info. My Dad has 40 acres in central Louisiana and he is woundering if it would be worth his while to plant corn and sell it.
Given the work it would take to shuck the corn, not sure. Just know I won't go visit till Deer season opens in LA. LOL.

I'm seriously thinking about growing corn. Then shucking and drying it out. And when I am at the lease, just throwing out some ears (instead of spreading more corn around the feeder). Just another way of saving a few $. Regular deer corn seed grows quite well.
