I shot an 8 point over thanksgiving and I'm picking up the meat from the processor Saturday morning. I've got coolers and will get ice in the morning. I'll be keeping it on ice all day Saturday, then on Sunday will be driving back to Dallas from schulenburg.
Any suggestions? I'll be checking ice and adding as necessary. Should I do anything special like adding dry ice.

Sounds fine. Just keep the meat dry. If it's in waterproof packing just drop it in with the ice. Not in waterproof, I would separate the meat from the ice with a cookie sheet. If the meat is cold you won't need to buy ice but once until you get home.

You will be fine. Just keep paper wrapped meat dry and check it often for ice and drain water.
