Not sure on the year but it was the early 90's.
Hunting just east of the Brady square the high was 6 degrees with a wind-chill of -30. All the deer feeders’ spinners were frozen solid. We had to use portable heaters to throw them out so they would spin.
The windows in the deer stands were also froze and needed to be thawed out with the portable heaters.

Killed two of my best deer in Iowa and the actual temp was -8 when I walked to the stand.....both hunts were windy as well. Wind chills were very bad!

1991 was very cold on opening weekend, we had to leave the stand and go warm up in the truck. I had 3 coats on or something. Deer froze solid on the hanging post. It was really, really cold. It sure did get the bucks moving. Lows were in the low teens or single digits.

I hunted on the red river in snow a few years back. Got a nice case of the flu for that.

Several years ago up in Illinois I went bowhunting New Years weekend. There had been a snow storm, ice storm and then another snow storm. One morning, it was -8 degrees with wind chills in the -20's. That had to be the coldest elements I have hunted.

The coldest was 7 degrees my cousin and I were on a place that has been in my family for years but the snow combined with the full moon caused us to get lost looking for the stand. We walked around the mountain we were on looking for the stand in the dark for around 45 minutes to an hour, when we got to the stand my facial hair was frozen as well as everything else, my cousin asked me if I had my lighter to light the heater but I didn't plan on smoking in the stand and thought there would be one in there so we couldn't light the heater. After our miserable walk and being frozen like that we only lasted until about 7am and we decided to bail before we froze anymore, the crazy part is we weren't on a trip we were right here in Texas, we spent the rest of the day thawing out my moms and my water wells it was the coldest I have ever been in Texas.

Not sure what the temps were but 3 of us were hunting Haul Rd/Dalton Hwy South of Deadhorse AK for Caribou. Never shut the truck off during the entire hunt (someone would always stay with the vehicle). So d**n cold it was actually scary and I'm from NW North Dakota when -30 during some opening day deer seasons were accepted. Better question is,would I do it again...Probably LOL

Mid November, mid 80s- deer hunt in Central Missouri. Temp was +7 degrees at 5:30 AM. By 4:30PM temp was -4 with a steady falling snow (on top of the 5" already there from 4 days before). Luckily there was little to no wind.
Best day of hunting- 9point buck and two mature does in the truck bed that evening. Lost count of total # of deer seen.

Mid 1990s on a duck hunt at Richland Chambers. 17 degrees and the wind was blowing about 20-25. Had to break ice to get decoys to float, then had to chip ice off them when we picked them up cause they had frozen up again. Two killed ducks actually slid across the ice. Had to make the dog heal on the shore. Only thing that made that trip worth while was a banded greenhead.

A little off topic, but for any of you whips that don't like cold...
I coached HS Softball, and we actually played a mid February tournament game in Lufkin, TX at 8:00am and it was 18 degrees...yes, 18 degrees!
One of my proudest moments as a coach when we won. smile

About 20F. Dad dropped me off before daylight and came back about 11:30. Had on a pair of wool socks and a pair of rubber boots from walmart. Feet have never hurt as bad.

About 6 years ago, Kendall Co....19 degrees....was guiding my dad on a friends place and we were set up in a makeshift ground blind (stacked cut cedar)....he arrowed a nice 8 point. We waited the standard 30 mins before we went to go look...when we found the arrow, the blood had already frozen on the shaft!

Never hunt with a heater.

2010 saw 8 degrees and snow/sleet in NM. Chilly.

After Xmas this year was 19 degrees with a stiff 15+ NW wind. Open stand, got a little cold.

It was 15 degrees on top of my tripod this morning. My camo insulation is my blind/heater. Been in Oklahoma Panhandle when below 0 and 10-15 mph wind. A yucca patch is the biggest thing to hide in.
