It'd be for me the BB doe i shot with Robert Stuart. Got a new scope so i thought i'd hit high so i aimed too low and almost missed. Followed up with a head shot. Y'all?

Shot a 9pt on the run with a 223 shooting 55 grain v-max.
Dropped in is tracks, I hit the spine and all was well, past that I never shot another deer with those bullets unless it was a head shot.
It's hell eatin em live

Yeah cool. The V-Max is a hollow point type right? Doesn't that mean less penetration?

Not all hp's mean less penetration I.e Barnes tsx
Did you not sight in your scope. What was your reason for your shot placement?

I dont take bad shots, ive made running shots and ling shots but im very very confident in my gun and have only lost one deer and that was a bad head shot 15 years ago in stx and dad shot it the next day lookin for cream style corn. I dont take head shots anymore unless its pigs or varmits.

My worst shot was at a big ol' buck running flat out up the opposing side of a ravine. Seems like every shot I flung his direction made him run a little faster. I think he was leaving a vapor trail by the time he cleared the top of the hill. Heck, he probably warped the space/time continuum.
I vowed that day to never shoot at running deer again. I've kept my promise.

Running shot are just too iffy, IMHO. I've shot running hogs and 'yotes but I don't think you guarantee a one-shot kill. Yes, you can score a hit easily enough but it's tough to score a hit in the vitals. Just my opinion. I won't risk it.

Way too iffy and in my opinion head shots are a last resort. It just show's your part of that "other" crowd.

My worst shot was when I first started bow hunting. I was young, practiced ALL the time but choked when I had 5 bucks come within 20 yrds. I picked the biggest of the group, but was shaking like I've never shook before. 20 yrds broadside on a 10 pointer, released and shot him in the butt. I was so embarrassed I didn't know what to do, but with some help I found him & finished him with a 22 pistol to the cavesa. We all have to start somewhere.

I took a running shot on a MD that was closing the gap quickly to get off the unit. I didn't want to tx heart shoot him and ruin much meat so I sent a warning shot to get him to turn. It worked and sent one through his boiler room.

I don't miss. Just kidding, but i would say my worst shot(s) where on a rabbit. I was 10 years old and had a pump up bb/pellet gun. 13 shots to the shoulder on 10 pumps and that rabbit was still never recovered.

Tried to make a head shot on a flying dove.
Still got the lungs though
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Used my dad's 270 last year and made a mistake I won't make again. Picked it up at his word it was sighted in. First shot was low and almost blew the doe's leg off. Second shot took out the bottom of the chest cavity, the sternum and the rib cage, still no vitals hit. I stayed dedicated though and tracked her for a year and half and finished her with a head shot. Won't make that mistake again.

Dead still morning 3 weeks ago. 30 yard shot on a narrow 12 pt. He jumped an took off on the string thump. Paunch shot. Let the trail sit 4 hours and went back. Little blood the first 60 yards then nothing. Spent hours on a grid search with no luck. Still sick.
