PVC pipe... A section of 5'' PVC pipe connected to a 45 degree angle at the bottom is a cheap fast method. Get a cap for the top and a stake in the ground for the base to hold the the whole thing together.. Paint the whole thing and your done.. Wont protect it from the rain though but it shouldn't block the feed from falling if the deer keep eating it.. Look on youtube also for some ideas.

I'd get your own plastic drum/barrel & get a kit online for the feed spouts (about $60) and then you are set! http://www.nativeoutdoors.com/powercontrolunits.html#th12vd^^^^ Look down at the bottom of the page & you will see what you need! Hope this helps, Frank.

let me look for the pictures of some we mande. landscape timbers and 2x4's will build a sturdy feeder and you can then make them for 2 or 3 55gal. barrels and fill them from the ground without a ladder. 2 barrels hold near 600#.

Pretty much the same as a gravity feed kit although slightly cheaper. I'd still just purchase whatever barrel in size you want, buy a funnel & gravity feed kit (may come with funnel), add 1/3 protein pellets, 1/3 cleaned corn & 1/3 alfalfa pellets & you will be set! The alfalfa is a major attractant for deer & does have some nutritional value as well. Good luck! Once I have mine all built & working I'll upload some pics of it & show y'all how well the alfalfa pellets really work, lol. Good Luck!

Don't forget the funnel at Academy too. It is only 24.99. The 55 gallon leg kit is $25 without legs. I buy them from Lowes/Homedepot for about $25 as well. For less than $100, you can put together a nice 300lb protein feeder that will last.
